Our BKF leadership had a great few days at the Joint Engineers Training Conference (JETC) hosted by the Society of American Military Engineers.

JETC continues to be a key forum for connecting with federal agencies, industry partners, and leaders supporting our nation’s mission-critical infrastructure. From USACE to NAVFAC and beyond, the conversations centered on resilience, readiness, and delivering high-quality solutions that support federal programs and long-term asset performance. Grateful for the connections and looking forward to putting these insights into action.

The Highway 1 Rocky Creek Emergency Repair project was named the 2025 Project of the Year at the 37th Annual CTF Transportation Awards Gala!

Delivered by Caltrans District 5, our CM Transportation team, and Teichert Construction, the project restored a critical section of California’s iconic Highway 1 along the Big Sur coast following a major March 2024 landslide. BKF supported Caltrans by providing CM and inspection services for the emergency repair effort that helped reconnect communities and reinvigorate Big Sur tourism along this central coast corridor.

At BKF, we help deliver resilient transportation infrastructure that restores mobility and keeps California connected.

Congratulations to all project partners on this well-deserved recognition.

Our BKF CM Transportation team was honored with two more major industry honors for their efforts on the Iron Horse Trail Bridge Over Bollinger Canyon Road project. Alongside our partners at City of San Ramon, Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA), COWI, and Myers-Shimmick, the project was recognized at both the CMAA Awards Gala & Industry Celebration and the California Transportation Foundation (CTF) 2026 Awards Gala.

The project was recognized with a 2026 CMAA Project Achievement Award and the CTF 2026 Active Transportation Project of the Year Award, bringing the project’s total recognition to six major industry awards. These honors highlight the project’s impact on regional mobility, trail connectivity, and multimodal safety.

BKF provided construction management services for the landmark cable-stayed overcrossing, supporting the delivery of a safer and more accessible pedestrian crossing. The Iron Horse Trail is a Route of Regional Significance, serving as a bicycle and pedestrian corridor through the San Ramon Valley, extending from Dublin to Martinez and connecting key destinations including schools, City Hall, parks, transit, and commercial centers.

Our team was happy to attend both celebrations alongside our project partners and industry peers to recognize the collaboration and dedication that brought this award-winning project to life.

Happy National Public Works Week! 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️

This year’s National Public Works Week theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” recognizes the people, partnerships, and long-term commitment behind the infrastructure systems communities rely on every day. At BKF, the theme reflects our mission to deliver thoughtful, client-centered solutions that strengthen communities and create lasting value through collaboration, innovation, and integrity.

BKF celebrates National Public Works Week by highlighting two projects honored with 2026 APWA Silicon Valley Chapter Project of the Year Awards:
- The Town of Hillsborough’s Shady Lane Storm Drain Replacement Project, (Utilities category, over $2 million)
- The City of Menlo Park’s Haven Avenue Street Improvement Project, (Transportation category, $2 million–$5 million).

We are honored to support our clients as these recognitions reflect BKF’s commitment to improving public infrastructure.

Rooted in resilience and public safety, the Shady Lane Storm Drain Replacement Project helps protect the Town of Hillsborough’s infrastructure and quality of life for the community for years to come. BKF supported the Town of Hillsborough by providing engineering design and coordination services to replace and upsize aging storm drain infrastructure, improving drainage capacity, reducing localized flooding risk during heavy rains, and supporting roadway improvements within a constrained residential environment.

The Haven Avenue Street Improvement Project improves transportation access and mobility for the Menlo Park community while creating safer, more accessible travel options for all users. Powered by community connection, BKF supported the City of Menlo Park as the primary consultant for a multimodal corridor improvement project featuring ADA-accessible upgrades, roadway and traffic signal improvements, and a new bicycle and pedestrian overcrossing that closes a critical Bay Trail gap.

Congratulations to SFCTA, HDR, and the BKF CM team on winning the ASCE Region 9 2025 Outstanding Roadway and Highway Project Award for the Yerba Buena Island I-80/Southgate Road & Interchange project. We attended ASCE's California Infrastructure Symposium Awards Luncheon to accept the project’s fifth major award to date.

BKF provided construction management services for this $36M reconstruction, helping improve safety and multimodal access at a critical Bay Bridge connection. The project enhances connectivity for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians while supporting the future of Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island.

This work reinforces our role as a leading CM firm in the Bay Area, delivering complex infrastructure solutions in highly constrained environments. Our experienced CM transportation group plays a key role in supporting projects like this from design through construction.
