Last weekend, the BBI team proudly participated in the Annual @ Center for Early Intervention on Deafness (CEID) Walk-A-Thon around Lake Merritt to promote early education, family engagement, and community awareness about their audiology services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and adults. We came together to walk alongside community members, families, and local partners in a positive and energetic environment. The event provided an opportunity for the BBI team to support meaningful local initiatives. Congratulations to CEID on a very successful event!

Our team recently joined the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Arnold's Place Medical Respite Center, formerly the Alameda Respite and Wellness Center.

It has been an honor to work on such an important project. Developed in partnership with Alameda Point Collaborative, designed by Ankrom Moisan, and operated by Life Long Medical Care, this milestone marks the completion of a ground-up facility dedicated to providing compassionate, integrated care. The center brings together medical respite, primary care, and supportive services under one roof to promote healing, dignity, and stability.

The building features a primary care clinic, resource center, and a commercial kitchen that serves both the medical respite patients and residents of the neighboring senior convalescent community. It also includes 50 medical respite beds with a mix of single, double, and quad sleeping rooms, creating a supportive environment for recovery.

We also want to extend our sincere gratitude to the subcontractors, tradespeople, and partners whose expertise and dedication made this state-of-the-art facility a reality. Your work has created a space that will serve and support the community for years to come.

Our team had the pleasure to attend this year’s Housing California Conference in Sacramento. Developers, advocates, policy makers, leaders, partners and community members gathered to share their knowledge, resources and strategies to keep addressing the housing crisis California is facing.

We appreciate the insightful remarks from Sarah Karlinsky from the Terner Center for Housing Innovations, Emily De La Guerra from the Santa Clara County Housing Authority, Caleb Smith from the City of Oakland - Local Government, Liz Osborne from Enterprise Community Partners and David Gonzalez Rice from the National Low Income Housing Coalition, among many other presenters.

We are excited to share that our team has succesfully crossed the finish line at our Huff Garden Apartments project in San Jose. This affordable housing rehabilitation project consisted of 5 buildings and a total of 72 units. The work focused on the exterior envelope of all buildings; siding was replaced as needed, all new windows and sliding doors, all balconies were rebuilt with steel colum as well as new decks and guardrails, new exterior trims, gutters and downspouts, new patio fences and new exterior paint to all buildings.

This project was possible thanks to the Santa Clara County Housing Authority and their mission of making homes and growing communities! Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this project. Big shout out to the whole team for diligently working to deliver beautiful safe homes.

BBI Construction's commitment to safety is of paramount importance. This week we are participating in SAFE & SOUND week, which is celebrated each year in August nationwide.

As part of our operations process, our crews take time to address hazards, discuss best practices, and reinforce safety requirements before employees begin their workday at a job site, so our crew members and the surrounding community are safe.

Big shoutout to the whole Alameda Point Collaborative Wellness and Respite Center team! Week by week, we are making steady progress and bringing this project to reality. Exterior scaffolding is coming down and we have started working on interior finishes. The APC Wellness and Respite Center will bring very much needed services and care to unhoused citizens in Alameda County and will strengthen Alameda Point Collaboratives' mission to provide resources and assistance to the most vulnerable members of our communities. Let’s keep it going team!

Working in conjunction with the Frienship Senior Housing Developers, Community Housing Development Corporation - CHDC & Friendship Christian Center, .U.I.L.D. (Bringing Underemployed Individuals to Local Developers) and BBI Construction is hosting a Job Fair!

Get to know local training centers and explore potential employment opportunities. Come by the West Oakland Job Resource Center on August 4th from 2 to 4PM to learn more. Don’t miss out!

Big shoutout to the whole team at the Friendship Senior Housing site for your hard work and dedication to advance this project. The transition from structural to finish phases is underway, with critical MEP and exterior work ongoing. Stucco application is currently underway, and the lath is complete. The lift station installation is in progress, with the concrete tank being installed and utility tie-ins ongoing. Framing and drywall installation is complete. Interior finishes trades are ready to perform their jobs. Mechanical and electrical systems are also in progress. Thank you to everyone working hard to build safe homes for our neighbors, which makes what we do so rewarding. Go team!

This project is located in West Oakland and it will offer 50 units of affordable senior housing to individuals in our neighborhood, thanks to the efforts of the Friendship Christian Center, Friendship Community Development Corporation and Community Housing Development Corporation - CHDC.
