☀️ Happy !

On the longest day of the year, we're taking the time to appreciate everything the sun does: a valuable resource for warmth, art, plants, and green energy. Solar power is a crucial resource that allows us to provide clean, renewable energy for all our customers.

Ava joined Pattern Energy and project partners this month to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the SunZia Wind and Transmission Project, which came online this past May. We're proud to be a 15-year offtaker of 250 MW of wind energy capacity—making SunZia the single largest online resource in our power project portfolio to date. With 916 turbines total, SunZia is the largest wind farm in the Western Hemisphere. Other offtakers include our CCA partners: Central Coast Community Energy, Clean Power Alliance, Silicon Valley Clean Energy, Peninsula Clean Energy, Sonoma Clean Power, San Jose Clean Energy, and CleanPowerSF.

“Ava was founded on a vision to accelerate clean energy adoption, which requires abundant and competitively priced renewable energy from across the western region,” said Howard Chang, CEO of Ava. “SunZia adds over 250 MW of wind power to our portfolio and helps us deliver on that vision to over two million people in California’s Alameda and San Joaquin counties.”

👀 Seeing a new name on your PG&E bill this month?

In May, Ava Community Energy began serving the majority of unincorporated San Joaquin County residents and businesses. If you're in unincorporated San Joaquin County, you may now notice Ava listed under the “Generation” section of your electric bill.

Electricity service has two components: generation⚡ and delivery🔌. Before Ava, you received both services from PG&E. Now, Ava provides your electricity generation, while PG&E continues to deliver it—all on a single PG&E bill.

Summer rates are here! ☀️

Summer rates are in effect from June 1st to October 31st. Most residents and businesses in our service area are on time of use (TOU) rates, which means that during peak hours between 4pm-9pm, rates are the highest they'll be all year.

Whether you’re on a TOU plan or not, here are four helpful tips to save and stay cool this summer:
💡 Switch major appliance use to "off-peak" hours: before 4pm or after 9pm.
🌡️ Pre-cool your home by setting the thermostat lower in the morning, then to 78° during peak hours.
🪟 Close blinds and curtains during the hottest part of the day to reduce air conditioning usage.
⚡️ Double check your rate plan on PG&E and examine if you need to adjust your rate plan to better fit your schedule.
