Three roofs, one building. 🔨

24x30x12 gable with a 12x30x10 lean-to down each side — 1,440 square feet of covered space in a footprint that still fits a normal yard. The lean-tos do the quiet work: shade on both flanks, water thrown clear of the walls, and room for the stuff that always ends up outside.

What's holding it up:

🔩 2"x2"x3/16" heavy-duty engineered steel trusses, painted black — 3:12 on the gable, 1:12 on the lean-tos
🪵 8x8 marine pressure-treated posts — premium S4S, not rough-cut
🪚 2x6 #2 Prime Select purlins — no warped, twisted, bark-edge boards
🏠 29g Galvalume roof, 40-year manufacturer's warranty

A big thank you to Mr. Allyne for allowing us to build this 30x72x12 with 3-24' Headers over his Coral.

Now, Mr. Allyne’s cattle have the shade they need and easy access to their drinking water. And the difference is already noticeable. After spending the day in 100° heat and direct sun, the cattle were showing obvious signs of heat stress. Now they have a place to get out of the sun and reduce that stress throughout the day.

Some barns are simple. Some require experience, planning and a little ingenuity.
