We're seeing renewed interest in trapping across the country, and it's encouraging to see more people wanting to learn about this tradition and its role in wildlife conservation and management.

Historically, getting started hasn't always been easy. Competition and a reluctance to share knowledge sometimes made it difficult for newcomers to find someone willing to teach them.

While some of those challenges still exist, organized courses, hands-on demonstrations, and experienced trappers willing to share their knowledge are making trapping more accessible throughout Maine.

By passing along our knowledge and experience, we're helping preserve trapping traditions while promoting responsible wildlife stewardship for generations to come.

When a trapper from Indiana meets a trapper from Florida and asks what do you trap lol
Florida has the most diverse trapping in the USA. We have everything from fur to scales. North and Central Fl has a wide variety of furbearers and Central and South Fl may have a few less furbearers but also more invasive species than can be listed in a post.
