HDI Railing Systems, founded in early 2002, is a leading provider of pre-engineered modular and ornamental railing systems used in commercial and residential applications, frequently specified for hospitals, airports, corporate offices, hotels, universities, libraries and museums. We provide a full range of architectural and contractor services including regional sales representatives to guide and assist customers with various systems and engineering solutions. Services also include presentations providing AIA continuing education unit credits (CEU) along with specific product information that enables architects and contractors to receive LEED credit on projects. Project managers oversee every project from detailing to manufacture through to installation if required, ensuring the project timelines and contract requirements
are met.

A clear view across the commons.

At Lansdowne High School in Baltimore County, HDI introduced Fortis™, pairing brushed stainless steel posts and handrails with custom laser-cut aluminum panels in a deep blue powder coat.

The open panel pattern provides the required guard while preserving views across the central commons and between levels, supporting both the visual connection of the space and staff visibility throughout the school.

At the upper-level walkways, the panels extend below the floor line to conceal the slab edge and create a continuous architectural band. At the main stair, concealed side-mount connections attach the guard directly to the stair structure.

With laser-cut panels, the pattern, color, and dimensions can be tailored to the architecture.

For Millersville University’s Brooks Hall renovation, HDI engineered and fabricated an Optik™ Shoe glass railing system for the new mezzanine above the building’s double-height commons. The low-profile system helps maintain clear sightlines to the original arched windows while providing the required guard at the upper level.

Optik™ Shoe carries 9/16″ laminated tempered glass with an SGP interlayer, providing the stiffness and impact performance required for the space.

Supplied by HDI from Columbia, Pennsylvania, just ten miles from Millersville University, with East Coast Contracting installing per the project documents.

For Vanderbilt’s Garland Hall renovation, HDI engineered, manufactured, and installed custom railing solutions designed to work within the building’s existing architecture, including a low-profile glass guardrail along a raised student lounge walkway.

At Shoreline Community College’s STEAM Building, HDI’s Optik™ Boss glass railing system protects a monumental concrete stair and mezzanine edges while preserving the clean geometry of the space.

With 9/16″ SGP-laminated tempered glass, stainless boss fittings, and a separate brushed stainless handrail, the system maintains open sightlines while complementing the architecture.

A Civic Stair, Framed in Structure.

At Public School 469X, HDI developed a customized Kubit™ railing system to support the architect’s intent for full-height framing and continuous visual rhythm along a central stair that anchors the school’s interior.

Extended stainless steel posts define each glass panel as a framed element, reinforcing cadence across the elevation.

9/16” low-iron laminated glass integrates a continuous Grand Concourse graphic, embedding local context into the architecture.

Engineered to IBC 2015 standards with full PE-stamped calculations, approval drawings, and coordinated fabrication.
