Today, we hit pause on the daily grind and focused on something even more important than the work itself: our people.

Our employees spent the day investing in what matters most: safety, wellness, leadership, and personal growth. From an inspiring keynote presentation by Brent Gleeson to engaging wellness breakout sessions and a powerful closing message from Dale Lesinski, Safety Base Camp was filled with valuable lessons, meaningful conversations, and opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.

A special thank you to our speakers, breakout session leaders, food truck vendors, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this event possible. Most importantly, thank you to our employees for embracing the day and for their ongoing commitment to creating a safer, healthier, and stronger workforce.

Safety Base Camp reflects our belief that investing in our people is one of the most important investments we can make. When our employees are equipped with the tools to succeed both on and off the job, everyone benefits.

Our Fiber crews recently completed a 20-foot underground open trench installation in Buffalo, working alongside National Grid and safely crossing a 230kV duct bank.

Projects like this require careful planning, teamwork, and a commitment to safety every step of the way. We're incredibly proud of our crew for successfully completing the work and representing HRS with professionalism and excellence.

🚨New Journeyman Lineman Alert🚨

Pictured below is Matt Stockwin and one of his mentors and working foreman Brad Burman!

When reflecting on his apprenticeship, he said he was “lucky enough to work with a bunch of good guys at every yard I was at…” and that throughout the process he “learned a bit of everything from being on transmission work, to some underground as well, and all sorts of distribution work.”

From day one to topping out, the hard work, long hours, and dedication never went unnoticed. We’re proud to see him reach this milestone and excited to watch his career continue to grow. Congratulations, Journeyman!

H Richardson & Sons was honored to sponsor Sweethearts & Heroes at the IBEW Local 1249 Union Hall last week.

This meeting focused on sustaining the lessons of empathy, accountability, and H.O.P.E. that Sweethearts & Heroes has brought to the men and women in the field. Creating a stronger culture both on and off the job is something we take pride in supporting.

Big news over here at H. Richardson & Sons

Out of a highly competitive group selected for the IBEW Local 1249 apprenticeship bootcamp, three of our own were chosen to take the next step in their careers. Two from our fiber division and one from our forestry division.

But here’s the best part... Their first placement? Right back with us.

This is exactly what it’s all about! Developing talent across all areas of our company and creating opportunities for growth within the trade. Watching employees from different divisions step into linework and continue their journey with us is something we take a lot of pride in.

Several crew members from our Forestry Department recently completed a New York State–certified flagger course. The training combined an online component with an interactive classroom session, providing comprehensive instruction for our employees. Unlike our overhead line crews, HRS Forestry does not work with dedicated flagging contractors on a daily basis. This training now enables select crew members to apply these skills in the field as needed.

🐾 Paws of the Month: Meet Coop! 🐾

This month’s spotlight goes to Coop, a 9-month-old Border Collie belonging to our very own Taylor Richardson (Journeyman lineman) and Lily Malloy (marketing).

Full of energy and always ready for action, Coop keeps life exciting both on and off the job. When he’s not keeping Taylor company, you can usually find him chasing geese, playing frisbee, or riding shotgun.

Border Collies are known for their intelligence and work ethic, and Coop is no exception. Whether he’s running full speed across a field or happily tagging along for the day, he brings plenty of enthusiasm and personality wherever he goes.
