Fun fact: My 3rd great-grandfather, Amos Anson, came to this part of Oklahoma around the turn of the century after serving in the Civil War. Family land records place him in the Gracemont/Hinton area, not far from Chickasha.
More than 120 years later, I’m still working in rural Oklahoma—just in a different way.
I have the old Anson family Bible, photographs, land records, and documents that have been handed down through the family. So if you live around Gracemont, Hinton, Anadarko, Binger, Fort Cobb, Carnegie, Chickasha or the surrounding area and your last name is Anson, send me a message. There’s a decent chance we’re connected, and I’d love to find more of the family.
It also makes serving communities in this part of Oklahoma a little more personal for me. Mears Engineers works with cities, towns, rural water districts and other public entities on water and wastewater systems, hydraulic analysis, infrastructure planning, funding, permitting, construction and the everyday engineering problems that determine whether a rural community can maintain what it has and continue to grow.
If you serve on a city council, town board, rural water district, public works authority or other local government in this area—or know someone who does—I’d appreciate an introduction. I’d love the opportunity to sit down, learn what your community needs and see whether Mears Engineers can help.
For me, this part of Oklahoma isn't just another place on a map. My family was building a life here more than a century ago. Helping rural Oklahoma build for the next century feels pretty personal.
