👋 Employee Spotlight: Josh Girdner
This week, we’re spotlighting Josh Girdner! Get to know Josh, his experience, and what he enjoys most about being part of the Poe & Associates team.
💬 What is your favorite thing about working at Poe?
“The work is engaging, and the culture strikes an excellent balance of professional efficiency in a relaxed environment. There’s no question the deadlines will be met, and quality will exceed expectations, but we are able to enjoy the process as well.”
🏗️ What has been your favorite project so far?
“I have really enjoyed collaborating with the CM group on the Gilcrease Museum Road project in Tulsa. The project covers a wide range of things being constructed, areas of high concentration storm water flow. The project has allowed me to be in the field and provide onsite environmental support has been a good time.”
🌎 How did your career path lead you to working for a consulting engineering firm?
“I tripped into the environmental world back in 2019 having a background in general science education and teaching earth and physical sciences. ODOT gave me an excellent opportunity as a stormwater specialist, which in 2022 became the pilot Environmental Field Liaison for District 4.
Through my time on sites, meeting with inspectors and engineers, I developed a relationship with a Poe inspector, and through conversation with him, I was put in touch with Jay and Doug to discuss where Poe could add environmental services to our wide range of offerings.
I am very thankful to ODOT for the opportunity to get my feet wet in Stormwater, and am eager for the chance to grow an environmental program here that will allow Poe to contribute to creating an infrastructure in Oklahoma that not only provides great roads and bridges to drive on, but sustainable measures that reduce flooding, preserve water, and increase efficiency of stormwater systems to serve the public.”
We’re proud to have Josh on the Poe team and excited to see the continued impact he’ll make in growing our environmental services! 🌱
