This year is different. We’re entering our 10th month battling a pandemic resulting in many of our friends, family and neighbors having lost jobs, houses, or their lives. With the nights starting earlier and cases again on the rise, despair may be the only emotion we feel.

But today is different. And out of despair comes hope. We are living in the greatest country on earth with the resources, support, and experience to dig out of whatever challenges that come our way. We will be stronger on the other side. And for that, we are so very thankful.

From our Rock Creek family to yours, have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Our title landman, Marcus Johnson, standing in front of the Santa Rita No. 1 well in Reagan County, Texas. This well, which led to the discovery of the oil-rich Permian Basin, was spud nearly 100 years ago on January 8, 1921, and took 646 days to drill at a rate of 4.7 feet per day until oil sprayed over the top of the derrick covering a 250-yard radius around the site on May 28, 1923.

Who will be our industry's next pioneer to discover the next great basin in this century's '20s?
