INFLECTION POINT
Today MSNBC's Rachel Maddow made the point regarding the Republican party as it stands today.
Maddow said that the party has made the conscious decision that the future of their party is tied to a different way of governing. Instead, of the traditional democracy we have had for over 200 years, republicans want a strong man government.
A government that can steamroll our current institutions and our norms.
Republicans will make radical changes in a way that rejects compromise or debate.
Donald Trump is the strongman, republicans have agreed to lead this direction.
Moreover, no matter what Trump has said or done before or going forward will change that. And the Republicans in Congress will do anything and everything to see Trump elected including breaking the law.
Rachel Maddow ended her thought by saying that the ONLY way this doomsday scenario for democracy can be stopped is for all of us, the presumed majority in this nation stand up against this "takeover"
So where are we today on March 6th, 2024? I believe we are at a point where our democracy is going through the most serious stress test since the Civil War in the 1860s.
Certainly, the two sides are extremely polarized. And we know the Maga side will consider violence to obtain what they want.
For those of us who believe in democracy and the rule of law must coalesce.
Put every other issue aside to focus on defeating Trump and protecting our form of current government.
Voting will be critical, as well as reaching out to people who are on the fence because they don't understand the gravity of the situation.
There is no turning back, we can't count on the GOP to change or the courts to hold Trump accountable.
It is completely up to US. To save democracy for us and for those who have children, their future of the America we grew up in.
