Hardwood on concrete

This finished in place white oak floor is getting installed right over the concrete slab. The process is fairly simple, just a bit labor intensive.

First - Grind/ score the slab to make it more porous. This is necessary for the primer to adhere properly.

Second - Apply primer/ v***r barrier. In this case we are using a product by Pallmann USA called P104 Turbo. This product blocks up to 98% v***r with 2 coats.

Lastly - Install hardwood with full-trowel glue-down method. The glue in this process acts as a v***r barrier as well.

Final product will be an absolutely gorgeous white oak floor throughout this home.

Groundwork Plumbing Complete

On to second phase of interior back fill. Once we are at our desired grade, we will put down our v***r barrier then 4 inches of foam. Yes, in that order!

crawl space detail

This is a detail that we have played with and adjusted over the years. It's also important to note that every project is different and our approach might vary.

We used to put down the v***r barrier before we built our floor system. We have even done it where we would roll it up the walls and sandwich the plastic under our mud sill. We found that it was incredibly hard to not trash the plastic while working on it though. It would also turn into a swimming pool if it rained.

In this approach, the insulator will be responsible for installing the entire v***r barrier. It's important that we leave them a surface to tape the vertical portion to.
