No, CB is NOT Amateur Radio CB is to Amateur Radio what a paper airplane is to a Supersonic Jet Airplane. Bounce radio waves off of the moon, or the ionosphere. Ham radio offers much!

Listen: Mix Radio Internat'l on 6875 kHz @ 02:05 onward right now s9+15dB at peaks, USB (Wide). Great programming... note how they have text in the high audio spectrum above the audio passband, so it shows up on a waterfall. Cool pirate station.

Two-way radio communication systems allow us to communicate without telephones or the internet. It is an excellent way for individuals to stay in touch, pass information about emergencies, or have fun. CB radio and ham radio are two common personal radio communication systems. However, both have sev...

My 2022 goal on my amateur radio station is that I will get confirmed over 150 countries worked using Morse code. I'm close to 100.

As an amateur radio communicator, I enjoy two-way communications with other licensed radio hobbyists around the world, using shortwave radio frequencies. With a radio that is designed to send and receive Morse code, for instance, we have two-way conversation only using radios and antennas, our Morse code telegraphy keys, and our minds, sending and receiving our signals via the ionosphere above the Earth. The certificates acknowledge a confirmed two-way communication with 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, and above 300 unique countries (entities). Using voice, Morse code, and digital modes of modulating text, I've certified over 200 such two-way contacts. My goal is to certify over 150 by only using Morse code. That is a mental challenge!

It takes years, and thousands of such two-way radio contacts, to achieve these goals. Some countries only have one or two active licensed amateur radio stations. Some countries are isolated islands where people take radios and antenna systems, generators, tents, and travel to these remote places, just to activate that location for the worldwide Amateur radio community so that they can add one more to the certification. It is quite challenging!

What is the most important aspect of life? Having fun! (Of course!). (I'm referring to one of the founding documents of the USofA, "... life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness...")

Perhaps it is unusual to wax philosophical but to me, this is the most important thought experiment; I am going out on a limb to share a perspective that hopefully is refreshingly new and full of life: Systems thinking -- in my case, an amateur radio approach -- but this is applicable to any of our social/societal pursuits.

EACH OF US ARE AN ACTOR IN A GRAND PLAY: LIFE.

We are not autonomous players. We are intrinsic to the whole community, society, in which we pursue life, liberty, and yes, the pursuit of happiness. In any of our smaller communities in which we interact with each other, we have to ponder that we have an impact on others--and a responsibility.

Some thoughts to ponder, regarding freedom of speech, community, ham radio, and so on, consider 2 videos (these are NOT mine):

1. https://odysee.com/:2/you-either-side-with-free-speech-or-you:6

2. https://odysee.com/:6/Live----Privacy_-Check!,-Freedom-of-Speech_-Check!,-and-Q-A:9

IMHO, these two expressions are spot on observations and insights.

I'm into amateur radio, a social network, worldwide, via radio communications--shortwave, satellites, moon-bounce, VHF, and so forth. Amateur radio transcends the politics of any one country. I have made some observations that are, when you ponder them, related to this topic.

See:

https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/a-different-approach-to-a-new-year-the-ham-systems-think.742240/

I concur with the points made in the two videos, above: there is no middle ground. That is a ponderous thought. Regardless of opinions, convictions, we still have overarching responsibility, right?

How we pursue our course in life, what is it that our pursuit requires of us?

Check out my new SDRplay RSPdx software-defined radio receiver, live, via http://www.sdrspace.com/Version-3, using the SDR Console software (Version 3).

The receivers are online whenever I am not transmitting and when there are no local thunderstorms.

Ant A is a wire antenna (100'), while Ant B is a VHF/UHF discone. Both have an AM Broadcast band reject filter, reducing local AM Broadcast signals by about 30 to 40 dB. Let me know what you think.

Enjoy.

At 1630 UTC, 06 May 2020, I was on 20m, on Upper Side Band (USB), with 8 tones in a 250-Hz bandwidth digital mode. Olivia Digital Mode on HF Radio (Contestia included). There are three other conversations in Olivia, out there, too. Nice. There is a lot of QSB at the moment, at my location in EN10pu.
