Melanie is our Senior Sustainability & Energy Consultant at Optimized Systems, now IMEG. For more than six years, she’s helped clients better measure their energy use and reduce energy costs. Altogether, Melanie brings 25+ years of experience in energy consulting and sustainability to our team.

Wearing many hats, Melanie focuses on helping clients accurately track energy consumption and costs—often through sub-metering—to support data-driven decision-making. From calculating ROI on energy projects to stepping back and evaluating the broader sustainability impact, her work helps drive meaningful results for both clients and communities.

A self-proclaimed data enthusiast, Melanie loves digging into the details to understand exactly what’s happening in buildings and why. Seeing clients reach their energy and sustainability goals—and helping teammates and partners achieve their own goals—makes her work especially rewarding.

Outside of the office, Melanie enjoys being at home reading, spending time with her two Yorkie pups, gardening, hiking, and exploring national parks. She’s also a big fan of Nebraska Volleyball and the Green Bay Packers—and a dedicated fantasy football enthusiast.

Optimized Systems, now IMEG, was proud to exhibit at the ASHE Region 8 Conference right here in Omaha last week!

It was a great opportunity to connect with healthcare facility professionals, engineers, and industry partners from across the region — all working toward the same goal of improving building performance, reliability, and patient comfort.

We were also excited to see our own Client Executive, Rick Kmiecik, present with Doug Sitton and Kelly Johnson during a breakout session; sharing insights on how a retro commissioned and optimized BMS can increase energy efficiency and drive long-term operational success in healthcare facilities.

We always appreciate the opportunity to share how our commissioning, optimization, and controls integration services help healthcare facilities operate more efficiently and effectively.

A big thank-you to ASHRAE and ASHE Region 8 for hosting such a valuable event!

🎉MEET KYLE!🎉

Kyle brings over 21 years of experience in the construction industry to the Optimized Systems, now IMEG team. As a licensed journeyman electrician, he spent 5 years in commercial electrical work before transitioning into building automation and controls, where he spent 16 years as an installer, programmer, field supervisor, and project manager. Since joining our team, he’s been applying his expertise in commissioning, including drawing and submittal reviews, site visits, and testing, to ensure building systems operate at peak efficiency.

Outside of work, you’ll find Kyle watching or coaching his kids’ sports, which keeps him busy and fulfilled. He’s not much of a TV or movie guy, sports are his go-to!

And when it comes to food? Kyle says he loves it all… the only thing he can’t stomach is vegetable lasagna after a bad experience when he was 5 years old.

Last Friday, we had the privilege of attending the groundbreaking ceremony for Girls Inc., and it was nothing short of inspiring.

It was incredible to see the community, staff, project team, and the remarkable girls who are at the heart of this organization come together to celebrate the start of something truly special. For more than 50 years, Girls Inc. has been empowering young women to overcome obstacles, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to lead and be bold.

We’re honored to play a part in bringing their next chapter to life. This new, state-of-the-art space will empower Girls Inc. to continue their legacy of impact, growth, and leadership for decades to come.

We’re truly grateful to be involved and excited to collaborate with the project team on this meaningful project.

Our recent Performance Commissioning (PCx) field observation is a perfect example of how we go the extra mile to ensure project success. By identifying issues that might have gone unnoticed, we helped safeguard building performance and enhance occupant comfort.

Some of our findings included:

VAV units were exposed to construction dust and debris, which can impact cooling efficiency.

Transfer ductwork was uncovered in an active construction area. Ideally, all ductwork should be protected during construction to ensure a clean system for the client.

VAV units were improperly installed or damaged, one left face down on its coil, another damaged but still installed.

Thanks to these proactive observations, these issues can now be addressed before they create problems and are more expensive to fix.

We had an incredible time at this year’s AIA Nebraska Annual Fall Conference! We enjoyed discussing the importance of building functionality and how our team ensures systems operate efficiently and effectively as designed with all of the architects, designers, community leaders, and other industry professionals. We loved sharing insights, exploring emerging technologies, and highlighting best practices shaping the future of design.

It was great reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting new colleagues, and seeing the innovative work showcased by fellow exhibitors.
