Congratulations to this MIW Team who chose to participate in the monthly 5:00am MIW Leadership Academy. This seven month program enhanced the leadership skills of each person who participated and challenged them to improve their skills not only at work but at home. The Cheboygan County Fair is right around the corner and we wanted to take a break to wish Ellyonna & Gus good luck on the upcoming competitions. The set up for fair started on August 1st and continues this week with barn decorating, a Mock Show, horse check-in and other fun activities. The first show is August 8th.

Elly shared that in addition to working with him daily, she's also been keeping up on grooming Gus, creating that special bond. We can't wait to see them compete! We wish all involved a great showing!!!

This month we’re shining the light on Juan who joined the Moran Iron Works team 2 years ago. Juan is a certified painter through the USACE process and is working on advancing his certifications. He enjoys the work at MIW and is always looking forward to what’s coming up next. We are excited he joined the team and can’t wait to see what the future holds for him at MIW.

Just taking a moment to do a shout out for Macee. After weeks of searching for her original 4-H fair entry, her lamb Whiskey, that left home on its own, Macee reached out to us. All hope was lost in Whiskey’s return and she was in need of a new lamb for fair. Hearing the heartbreaking story, we agreed to help her. Macee shared with us the following at the end of June...

“I bought a new ewe and I named her Diva, and she is a very sweet (and sassy) little lady. We are starting to exercise her because she has gained enough weight and muscle to start toning it. She is a very good lamb, and I’m excited to work more with her to get her 'show ready' for the Montmorency County Fair on Tuesday, July 21st! I have already learned so much about responsibility, hard work, and consistency on top of researching and learning about lambs in general. Again, I would like to thank Moran Iron Works for the opportunity to have this experience, and it has been very fun!”

We are wishing Macee and Diva a successful showing next week at the Montmorency County Fair.

And in case you were wondering ... after 41 days of wandering the woods, Whiskey was found five miles from home and was returned.
