Forty-six high school juniors from across the state have been in Nashville this week for the Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association’s (TECA) annual Youth Leadership Summit.

Delegates to the event receive a hands-on look at state government, learn networking and leadership skills, and develop a better understanding of their local electric cooperatives. PEC's student representatives were Jasper Frogge and Julianna Shelton, juniors at Scott High School and Sunbright High School. Morgan and Scott County Schools.

During the trip, students visited the Capitol, where they met with legislators, sat in committee meetings, and debated and voted on mock bills. In addition, students also developed their leadership and team-building skills at the Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center at Camp Widjiwagan, and completed leadership training courses. Delegates also had the opportunity to attend the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Goo-Goo cluster store where they got to make their own Goo-Goo, and The Grand Ole Opry.

Youth Leadership Summit is a great experience for all of our students where students can learn to network, team build, learn about their electric Cooperatives, and make memories that they will have for a lifetime! PEC considers it an honor to be a part of this event where we can help these students learn and grow. Here’s to investing in the leaders of tomorrow! We’re so proud of these students & look forward to seeing all they accomplish!
