Gooseneck or Bumper Pull? This single equipment choice can make or break your first year running a roll-off business.
We get asked this almost every day by haulers building out their first setup. Here is the honest breakdown:
Bumper Pull: The most budget-friendly way to get on the road. It hooks up easily to standard 3/4-ton trucks and works great for light junk removal, residential cleanouts, and smaller container drops.
Gooseneck: Transfers the heavy payload directly over your truck's rear axle. This gives you way better highway stability, tighter turning control, and zero trailer sway when you haul wet dirt, concrete, or roofing shingles.
The Bottom Line: If you only haul light junk with a smaller truck, bumper pull gets you moving today. But if you plan to haul heavy demo debris and your truck has the tow rating, going straight to a gooseneck saves you from having to buy a second trailer six months down the road.
We engineer both setups at our South Florida shop using NATM-certified heavy steel frames, dual 3,000 PSI hydraulic rams, and durable commercial running gear built to handle daily abuse.
