Thank you to everyone who joined us at the grand opening! It is a dream come true to be operating our Soup Kitchen, Food Pantry, Diaper Bank, Day Shelter, Immigrant Integration Program, Resource Center, and Free Clinic out of this beautiful new building. Now we can do even more to help people get through tough times and get back on their feet. We are grateful for every person who believed in our mission, our clients, and this project!

ICYMI: The Avangrid Foundation is proud to be part of an amazing waterfront rejuvenation project happening in Bridgeport, Connecticut. As part of a $100,000 grant to the Trust for Public Land, we're contributing to the Bridgeport Seawalk project, an effort to create a 20-mile walking path and recreation areas on the city's waterfront, connecting tens of thousands of people to the Long Island Sound. Part of that project is affectionately called the "Sliver by the River," which will be a refurbishing of a neglected 3-acre vacant lot as a thriving native salt marsh with a kayak launch and dock. The park will provide space for people to get outside, curtail flooding, minimize storm water runoff, rejuvenate the Pequannock River, and serve as an educational platform for those eager to discover nature’s wonders, right in an urban environment in downtown Bridgeport.

BIG NEWS in Washington ➡️➡️ Avangrid has executed a power purchase agreement with Microsoft for a new 140 MW solar project! ☀️🔌

Called Bluebird Solar, the 140 MWdc project will be located in in Klickitat County, Washington, and represents another $300 million investment by Avangrid in the community, including 300 construction jobs and $11 million in property taxes. With the addition of Bluebird, Avangrid and Microsoft now have more than 500 MW of energy capacity under contract across four projects in the United States.

“Bluebird Solar builds on our longstanding commitment to energy development and operations in Washington, bringing meaningful economic benefits to Klickitat County. We are proud to have built a strong relationship with Microsoft to help them meet their energy needs while investing in the communities where we operate,” said Avangrid CEO Jose Antonio Miranda.

Avangrid recently awarded its annual $5,000 STEM Scholarship to Natalie Flynn, a graduating senior from Fieldcrest High School in Minonk, Illinois. Natalie plans to pursue a career in medical research. This scholarship is an example of our ongoing commitment to empowering students and investing in the future of communities where we operate. This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our nation.

At Avangrid, we are proud to work alongside veterans and military families, and we’re grateful to our Avan-Veterans Employee Resource Group for their continued commitment to supporting and honoring this community.

Today, we encourage everyone to take a moment and remember those who gave what President Lincoln called “the last full measure of devotion.”

Blending storytelling with the works of Beethoven, Stravinsky, and Barber—and featuring violinist and Southern tier native Sophia Werner—the program is designed to ignite curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong connection to the arts.
