Job Summary: This is an hourly position whose primary responsibility is to perform their assigned work professionally and to their best of their ability. They report directly to the supervisor of their assigned job. A painter’s primary priority is to work as efficiently as possible while following all company policies. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining a high morale and level of professionalism, striving to learn different and new skills, increasing their knowledge of their trade and paint products, to be on time and follow all company time polices.
Communication is the key to success. Timely and accurate communication to their supervisor on any matter is essential. Informing the superintendent of personal schedules and work availability in advance is critical.
In summary: The painter needs to fully understand exactly what is expected of them for each assigned task. If there are questions, they need to immediately ask the supervisor. This will lead to successfully completing the jobs on schedule and within budget.
Essential Job Functions & Tasks:
Trade Specific Skills:
Has sufficient knowledge of their trade, or the ability to learn such knowledge, to perform their job, including, but not limited to, the following:
• Proper use of paint rollers and brushes
• Proper use of airless sprayers
• Application of stain and varnish finishes
• Application of special coatings
• Adequately cleaning a job site
• Proper patching / wall repair while matching textures
• Identifying the correct tool to use for each job in compliance with the scope of work
• Proper use of ladders, extension ladders, and perrys
• Certification in the use of lifts and booms
Trade Specific Tools (Employee Provided):
• Roller Poles – 4’ and 6’
• Chalk Line – 1’ – 4’ level
• 2 oil-based paint brushes
• 4 water-based paint brushes
• Putty Knives – 8”, 4”, 2.5”, 5/1

Job Management:
• Always keep the project site in a clean and organized manner
• Knows the proper way to perform each assigned job

• Every job is left clean
Materials/Company and Rental Equipment Management:
• Ensure that all material, sundries, and equipment used are properly accounted for
• Ensure that all equipment is clean and in good operating condition
• No overages or equipment are left on the job site or taken home without permission
• Does not waste materials
• Knowledge of the trade products and uses the right product for the right job
Time Management:
• Make sure all company policies and procedures regarding time are followed
• Has all tools and is ready to start work at the beginning of shift
• Follows company paid and unpaid break policy
• Is at their job site and ready to work at start time
Quality Control:
• Know the job’s and client’s quality standards and requirements
• Quality control is a daily priority
Safety:
• Knows, understands, and follows company safety policy
• Wears approved PPE
• Participates in Tailgate Safety Meetings
