The idea of living on Mars is becoming more realistic every single day. 👩🏻‍🚀💭

Researchers in Turkey and Germany are experimenting with our simulated Martian dust to find sustainable and resourceful ways to build structures on the red planet one day! This is why it is so important that we replicate the surface of Mars as accurately as possible, so that effective research can be done here in Earth.

A gateway to the Moon, here on Earth 👩🏻‍🚀✨

Over the past month, the World’s Largest Lunar Regolith Testing Bin was filled with our Lunar Highlands simulant at the University of Central Florida’s Exolith Lab! It has been such an exciting project to be a part of, as this bin will bring new opportunities to the space community for hardware testing and space research!

Not only that, but in a couple weeks UCF will be hosting universities from around the nation to test their rovers as part of the NASA Lunabotics Challenge in the bin! 🤩

Exciting times in the space industry! 💫

Exploring beyond our planet to sustain life on it. 🌎✨

As astronauts aboard the International Space Station explore what lies beyond our planet, they always take a little piece of Earth with them on the journey.

The growth of plants in space holds immense value and we couldn’t do it without understanding our home first. Happy Earth Day! 🌱

2024…the year that humanity will return to the Moon. 👩🏻‍🚀

As we step into a new year, there’s an exciting promise of remarkable accomplishments and cosmic discoveries awaiting us in the space industry. NASA is anticipated to send the first woman and the first person of color to the Moon, marking a historic return for humans to lunar exploration since 1972.

What are you looking forward to this year? 🌌

Our History

Exolith Lab started as a joint venture between the University of Central Florida (UCF) and Deep Space Industries (DSI) with a small business incentive application to NASA in 2015.

Dr. Daniel Britt, CLASS PI and Founder, noticed there was a need for high-fidelity regolith simulants in the industry so he recruited DSI and submitted a NASA SBIR Phase 1 grant to develop recipes.

Dr. Daniel Britt, CLASS PI and Founder, noticed there was a need for high-fidelity regolith simulants in the industry so he recruited DSI and submitted a NASA SBIR Phase 1 grant to develop recipes.

The awarding of this grant allowed for the hiring of Chief Scientist for recipe development and lead to the mass production of Lunar, Martian, and Asteroid simulants. Of which was a six-ton order for Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, FL.
