The corporate entities responsible for the majority of climate change will never, ever take responsibility or change their ways unless it were financially profitable to do so. In the mean time, you as an individual can do your part without even making drastic changes or inconveniencing yourself whatsoever. Complaining about Exxon does nothing if you don’t take your own measures.

ExxonMobil is one of the world’s largest publicly traded oil and gas companies. It wants you to take responsibility for climate change.

Back in World War II, Americans were asked to grow their own “victory garden”. It was pitched that by reducing your burden on the food supply that could be sent over to the troops, you were doing your part to increase our chances of winning the war. In today’s war against climate change and a crippling power grid, the “victory garden” is your roof, except you don’t have to lift a finger or take up any of your time to participate and you’re literally gaining financial incentives to do so.

If you follow Disney at all you know that they are NOT a sentimental company when it comes to money, they will lay off thousands of people even with billions in the bank if they think their bottom line will benefit from it. So when THEY make the decision to convert their energy resources to solar, don’t you think you should too?

Plans also include solar canopies at Disneyland Paris that will provide shelter for 9,500 guest vehicles, a facility that will power ~70% of Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line’s private island in The Bahamas.

Wind and solar have driven a record fall in global coal generation in 2020, although this was heavily impacted by the low electricity demand caused by COVID-19.

Owning your own power is ten times more effective at “doing your part” than recycling, and easier too. Of course recycling is important, but you can’t control what these companies do once they take away your materials, but you CAN control how you power your home. Plus, solar panels actually put money back into your pocket PASSIVELY.

To fight climate change, the power supply needs to grow—but not more than it has in the past.

If you don’t own your own power, it’s inevitable the cost of electricity is going to continue to rise. Utility companies around the country are being forced to reinvest in the power grid both for supply and durability and they will ALWAYS pass that price burden on to the customer. Residential solar panels have a better ROI in 2021 than gold, not an exaggeration

Florida Power & Light revealed it will seek authorization to collect about $2 billion more in revenue between 2022 and 2025. Most of that money, if approved, will come from consumers in the form of higher utility rates.
