The team circled up last week at the Green Acres solar project site in Basset VA to look at all the progress being made. A lot of work has been completed on the civil side to ensure erosion, sediment control and storm water features are built as spec’d.
Being out in the field, seeing the site with our partners opens our eyes to the differences between trades and industries. We may all have a different approaches to the various tasks that need to be completed, but it’s nice to know that all our collective goals still align with successful timely completion of a quality PV array.
It’s a deceptively complex project but luckily we had plenty of good help from our partners and team members who took time to walk the site, compare the CAD design with reality, and share their perspectives on how we can all make this process even better the next time.

Christopher McCabe is Eitri Foundry’s Director of Operations, and in this video he talks about his motivations as a father to transition from natural gas pipeline work to building out solar energy fields. The solar industry needs more hearts, minds and bodies to build our next generation of infrastructure. By engaging local communities with apprenticeship and educational programs, groups like Eitri Foundry and Vaughn industries can help open up the transition for your next career in renewables. Many gracious thanks to the good folks at Planktown Hardware and More for hosting the Future Farmers of America event for Plymouth High School! Farming is one of the oldest forms of entrepreneurship. Both deal with planning, resource and risk management and both require creative problem solving. Eitri Foundry members Lian and Jamie had a great time discussing some of the challenges while exploring the innovative solutions that are deployed on modern day farms. Planktown Hardware has implemented some fascinating technologies that look like science fiction but have tangible results that have created a sustainable utopia for the many amazing critters that inhabit the farm. Join us for the next one to learn more about how communities like Plymouth are using modern technology to improve self sufficiency and reliability!

A syzygy is an alignment of 3 or more planetary bodies. Today’s syzygy between the sun, moon and earth allowed us to witness a spectacular eclipse. Whether you were in the umbra or penumbra, we hope you all had your handy eclipse viewing glasses to gaze upon this marvel of astronomy. Thanks Wapakoneta Area Chamber of Commerce for allowing us the chance to sponsor your eclipse viewing event! We’ll be putting our glasses away until the next one in August 12, 2045!

Eitri Foundry is actively involved in supporting our local partners and the local community. Seaman's Fence from Shiloh, Ohio has completed the fence and solar modules are currently being installed on site. Check it out in this recent construction update video!
