A technician from another company installed the wrong type of capacitor in this air handler in downtown Orlando. It was physically too big to use the existing metal strap to secure it safely in place. The technician could have provided a new strap but instead chose to leave the new capacitor unsecured. Over time, the vibration of the motor running caused the capacitor to move into the blower wheel. The wheel pierced the capacitor, shorting it out and leaking oil all over. It also bent the blower wheel and the shaft of the motor. Carelessness on the part of the technician cost the homeowner a new capacitor, motor, and blower wheel!
