🥵Volusia County: today is going to be HOT.
A Heat Advisory is in effect today, with heat index values expected to reach 108-112°F.
📣PSA from your favorite HVAC team:
Your AC system is actually supposed to struggle a little when it’s this hot outside.
Residential HVAC systems are designed around “typical summer conditions” - not a 108-112° heat index. On an extreme day like today, your system may run almost continuously during the hottest hours, and your indoor temperature may creep a degree or two above what you have set on the thermostat. That can be completely normal.
If your thermostat is set to 74° and the house is holding around 75-76° during peak afternoon heat, your AC is likely doing exactly what it’s supposed to do.
But if you’re seeing a 4-5+ degree difference, the indoor temperature keeps climbing, the system stops cooling altogether, or something otherwise seems abnormal - give us a call. That’s worth checking out.
And friendly reminder: turning your thermostat from 74° down to 68° won’t make the air coming out any colder. It just tells an already-hard-working system to keep running…
Stay safe and stay COOL, Volusia. We’re here for you ❄️❄️
