Sometimes building the pool starts with lowering the water table. 💧🏗️

This waterfront project in Cape Canaveral required well pointing due to the extremely high groundwater level. Well points are installed around the excavation and continuously pump groundwater away from the site, temporarily lowering the water table so we can safely excavate and construct the pool.

It’s one of those behind-the-scenes steps most homeowners never see, but on waterfront properties, proper dewatering can be critical to getting the job done right.

Just a week ago, I shared this project as nothing more than a freshly dug hole. Fast forward a few days, and the gunite shell is already in place. It’s always fun to look back and see just how quickly these projects begin to take shape.

You may also notice the groundwater in the deep end. That’s actually intentional. We leave hydrostatic relief pipes in place during construction to give groundwater somewhere to go. By allowing the water into the pool, we relieve the pressure beneath the shell and help prevent the pool from lifting or “floating” before it’s filled with water. Once the time is right, those pipes are removed and sealed.

The little details behind the scenes are just as important as the finished product, and they’re a big part of building a pool that’s made to last.
