🌎💻 The world is changing by the minute and digital literacy is becoming a necessity, not a luxury.

Today, more and more of everyday life happens online.

From communicating with family and friends, searching for information, managing accounts and appointments, applying for jobs, accessing services, protecting personal information, and even using Artificial Intelligence✨ having basic digital skills can make a real difference in a person’s independence and ability to navigate the world around them.

For senior citizens especially, learning these skills isn’t about “keeping up with technology.”

It’s about being able to participate, connect, protect yourself, and remain independent in an increasingly digital world.

That’s why AA8 Corporation, in partnership with HUBZone Technology Initiative - HTI, continues to provide a FREE Senior Digital Literacy Course to communities through multiple cohorts.

This program is designed for senior citizens, reentry individuals, and absolute beginners 🌱people who may have little or no experience with computers.

Across 4 in-person sessions, participants learn practical skills including:

🔎 Online search skills
📧 Creating & managing email
🔐 Creating strong passwords
🌐 Digital literacy & digital citizenship
🤖 Introduction to AI
💻 Understanding computer hardware

And there’s NO LAPTOP REQUIRED. 💻

We provide laptops during instruction so participants can learn in a hands-on environment.

🎓 Participants who complete the program receive a Certificate of Completion or Certificate of Competency.

💻 FREE LAPTOP OPPORTUNITY: Participants can also apply for a free laptop. Those who qualify will receive one.

🤝🏾 Bring Digital Literacy Training to Your Community

Opening night of Kids Robotics Lab, and we never touched a robot.

That was on purpose.
Before you can build one, you have to know how to solve a problem. So we started with six questions that go on the whiteboard every Tuesday from now until December:
What is the problem? What do we know? What do we need? What can we try? Did it work? What can we change?

Then we asked the room what an engineer actually is — not a definition, just five people in five completely different places and one question: what do they have in common? Every one of them gets paid to solve a problem. That’s the whole job. From there we walked mechanical, electrical, computer, civil, aerospace and robotics, and where those careers already exist right here in our region.

Then we folded paper airplanes. One sheet, folds only, three throws — and the rule that got the loudest groans: we scored the MIDDLE throw, not the best one. A design that only works once isn’t a design. It’s an accident.

We closed the night with our Future Ready Drone Education segment, sponsored by Granville County United Way Thank you for putting real drone technology in these students’ hands.

Why doesn’t a robot arm overshoot its target?

Proprioception through encoders at every joint, feeding a control loop that corrects error thousands of times per second. The math is called inverse kinematics, the robot solves backwards from where the hand needs to be to what angle each joint must hold.

COMM.UNITY ROBOTICS CLUB

This one is different.

It’s not just a robotics class.

It’s a 4-H club.
It’s right here in Granville County.
And the people helping lead it?

Young people.

Comm.Unity Robotics Club was founded by AA8 Corporation with a simple idea: give young people a space to explore technology, build things, solve problems, and eventually take ownership of the work themselves.

And here’s something we’re pretty proud of:

As far as our region goes, this is the only 4-H club focused specifically on robotics.

Think about that.

Kids and teens in our community aren’t just learning about STEM.

They’re getting the opportunity to build, code, collaborate, compete, lead, and figure things out together.

That’s the part we care about.

Because we don’t want to always be the adults telling young people what to do.

We want to create spaces where young people can lead.

So if you’ve got a kid who loves robots…

A kid who is always taking things apart…

A kid who wants to know how stuff works…

Or maybe a kid who hasn’t found their thing yet…

Bring them.

They might surprise themselves.

🧠 TEEN TECH LAB

What if your teenager stopped asking, “What can I do?” and started asking, “What can I build?”

That’s what we’re after.

Teen Tech Lab is for young people who are curious about technology, robotics, coding, engineering, and what’s possible when you actually get your hands on the work.

No sitting around listening to somebody talk for two hours.

Build something. Break something. Figure it out. Try again.

That’s how confidence is built.

And in a world that is changing this fast, our young people deserve more than just access to technology.

They deserve the opportunity to create with it.
