Position Summary:

Performs regularly scheduled preventative maintenance as well as emergency/unscheduled repairs on production equipment/machinery and tooling. Grinds, cleans, sands, drills, taps, and fits-up, assembles, inspects, packages/crates, and loads materials/components/products.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs on production equipment and tooling, properly diagnosing problems, replacing or repairing parts, making appropriate adjustments and testing; and contacting/coordinating repairs through vendors when needed. Maintains a clear and accurate log of all repair procedures.
Cleans and lubricates parts, equipment, and machinery; performs regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on production equipment and tooling per operations manuals and manufacturer’s specifications. Maintains a clear and accurate log of all maintenance procedures.
Assembles equipment including gates and components per blueprints/job specifications within quality standards and allotted routing time.
Grinds, cleans, sands, drills, taps, and fits-up materials/components/products per blueprints/job specifications within quality standards and allotted routing time.
Determines/performs proper material layout including hydraulic hosing, air hosing, and electrical wiring and junction boxes blueprints/job specifications within quality standards and allotted routing time
Lifts, loads, sorts, and moves materials, supplies, products, equipment/machinery between storage, work areas, etc. safely using push cars, hoist, dolly, forklift, overhead crane, etc; properly packages/crates equipment and loads trucks with finished products.
Assists/fills in for other employees/departments as needed.
Runs errands; picks up parts, supplies, and equipment; performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
Inspects and operates finished products including gates/valves to ensure conformance with specifications and quality requirements; completes product inspection list.
Performs general shop and equipment clean up. Keeping work area orderly.
Lays out, cuts and installs gate seals and seal retainers per blueprints/job specifications within quality standards and allotted routing time.

Skills and Abilities:
Mechanically inclined with blueprint reading skills including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical applications.
Ability to use all types of hand tools, competency with power tools and machinery common to fabrication and equipment repair & maintenance work (e.g. drills, taps, grinders, etc.).
Ability to perform general maintenance as well as diagnose and make repairs to machinery and tooling.
Ability to read, write and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
Ability to identify and solve problems utilizing own knowledge as well as printed material, technical operations manuals, etc.
Must have adequate math skills.

Provides overall supervisory responsibility for production including ensuring that the OSHA programs and safety procedures are followed; the quality control manual/standards and industrial standards are adhered to; job specifications are adhered to; and routing times are met, job shipping commitments are met. Supervises shop personnel including, scheduling, assigning overtime, approving leaves, motivating, training, appraising, monitoring performance, disciplining, etc. as well as making hiring/firing/promotion recommendations to Manufacturing Manager.

Responsibilities:
Under direction of Manufacturing Manager, provides overall supervisory responsibility for production including ensuring that the OSHA programs and safety procedures are followed; the quality control manual/standards and industrial standards are adhered to; job specifications are adhered to, routing times are met, job shipping commitments are met, etc.; analyzes and corrects issues in a timely fashion.
Reviews production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information and plans/recommends sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble products through the shop in the most efficient and effective manner possible, per blueprint/job specifications within quality standards, for completion within ship dates; works and schedules overtime as required to meet customer ship dates.
Supervises shop personnel including hiring/firing/promotion recommendations, scheduling, assigning overtime, approving leaves, motivating, appraising, monitoring performance, disciplining, oversees/provides employee mentoring, training/cross training, etc. while creating a positive, nondiscriminatory, work environment.
Oversees routine general equipment maintenance per manufacturers’ standards and coordinates/oversees needed repairs.
Keeps the Manufacturing Manager informed.
Inspects/operates products including gates/valves to ensure conformance with specifications and quality requirements.
Oversees and ensures organization and cleaning of all shop areas.
Prepares/forwards purchase requests for shop supplies, tooling, machine repair and raw materials.
Provides technical support and other needed assistance to shop employees; directs and assigns jobs to all manufacturing areas while monitoring performance and router times; monitors and enforces quality control.
Assists/fills in for other supervisors/employees/departments as needed.

Skills & Abilities:
Mechanically inclined with blueprint reading skills & mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems knowledge.
Ability to use all types of hand tools, competency with power tools common to fabrication work (e.g. saws, drills, taps, welding machines, grinders, arc gouging and plasma/oxyfuel cutting).
Must be knowledgeable in welding, machining, assembly, spraying booth painting.
Comprehensive knowledge of manual and computer aided drafting methods, materials, mechanical process symbols, terms, safety, and planning are required.
Knowledge of inputs, outputs, raw materials, waste, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing the efficient and cost effective manufacture and distribution of products.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective relationship with the management, employees, and vendors.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents.
Ability to communicate on a variety of technical levels.
Ability to plan, organize, assign, supervise, delegate, motivate and inspect the work of subordinatates.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as good numerical skills.
Ability to understand and follow Industry specification guides: piping, bolting, materials of construction, mechanical, and electrical, etc.
Ability to identify and solve problems utilizing own knowledge as well as printed material.
Must have indepth knowledge industrial manufacturing standards as well as relevant federal, state, local, regulations/standards affecting shop.
Ability to develop and oversee safety and health program, standard operating procedures, quality control program, and equipment maintenance program.
Must be/become proficient with integrated manufacturing software and Auto Cad light software, Word, Excel, and Access.

Ability to use all types of machinery (milling machines, lathes, drill presses, broaches) hand tools.
Competency with power tools common to machining work (i.e. saws, drills, taps, milling machines, lathes, drill presses, grinders, boring machine, inspection equipment, surface grinders).
Ability to read, write and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
Ability to identify and solve problems utilizing own knowledge as well as printed material.
