Check out this aerial view showing progress on the new Brooks Bridge westbound structure.

Crews finished installing the beams spanning the Santa Rosa Sound earlier this year, and recent activities have been focused on bridge deck construction.

Concrete placement for the bridge deck will continue as the spans between the piers are formed.

The $171 million Brooks Bridge replacement project includes constructing two new, parallel bridge structures that will increase capacity to six travel lanes from the current four-lane bridge that opened in 1966.

Construction continues on a 3.5-mile segment of State Road (S.R.) 77, between Rogers Road and Cane Mill Road in Washington County.

Crews are hard at work extending the drainage structure next to the bridge over Reedy Creek as part of the ongoing roadway widening. The area has been excavated to make room for the new culvert sections, with riprap placed for erosion control and grading underway to tie the new lanes into the existing bridge. Each step brings the expanded roadway one step closer to reality!

This work is part of the $56 million S.R. 77 Widening project that is underway from Rodgers Road to Cane Mill Road, in Wausau. The project is scheduled for completion in early 2028.

Crews have been busy preparing S.R. 77 for upcoming lane widening through the heart of Wausau. Here the project team is clearing and grading the future roadway footprint, making way for safer, smoother travel and improved traffic flow.

Washington Co - SR 79 reconstruction project from south of Millers Ferry Rd to Mallory Rd - Looking southeast, you can see the future roadway taking shape. Future work efforts include utility relocation, embankment construction and placing sod.

The project will widen 2.5 miles of SR 79 to four lanes, two in each direction, and includes additional enhancements such as new guardrail, signage, and pavement markings.

Work is anticipated to be complete by mid-2027.

Crews for the Western Lake Bridge replacement project in Walton County are constructing curb and gutter south of the existing bridge.

The curbs will provide a defined edge for the roadway and help protect the embankment, while the gutters will collect and convey storm water runoff into the drainage system. Curbs and gutters are essential for preventing erosion and ensuring the long-term stability of the roadway.

This work is part of the $11.8 million Western Lake Bridge replacement project, which includes constructing a new bridge with increased vertical clearance, replacing the seawall, upgrading guardrails, and new signage and pavement markings. The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2026.
