Another gravel driveway repair and site prep / grading project completed in Paola, Kansas—this one served a dual purpose!
The existing gravel driveway was in rough shape, with deep ruts from years of traffic. These ruts were trapping rainwater, leading to washouts, material loss, and soft spots throughout the drive.
To fix the issue, we started by power raking the existing gravel driveway, breaking up compacted areas and redistributing material to create a solid sub-base. From there, we performed precise grading, establishing a proper crown in the driveway so water sheds off to the sides instead of sitting on the surface.
We then added 3” of fresh AB3 gravel, creating a smooth, durable driving surface built to last. Now, water properly drains into the existing swales, eliminating washouts and preventing future soft spots.
While on site, we also addressed a major drainage concern around the home. The soil around the foundation was sloped toward the house, allowing water to collect against the concrete walls—something that can lead to foundation pressure, cracking, and long-term structural issues.
We delivered and installed 25 yards of soil, then completed proper grading and site prep around the foundation to ensure water now drains away from the home—protecting the structure and improving overall drainage.
If you’re dealing with gravel driveway issues, drainage problems, or need grading and site prep in Paola, Kansas or surrounding areas, we’re here to help.
