In the past week, Henry County has seen tragedy and loss that has left us all saddened and in disbelief. No one ever knows the right words to say when losing someone, and we are no different. However, we do want to extend our deepest condolences; not just to the families, but to our entire community as the loss of these people affects so many of us.
Dr. Townsend left an impact on most people he encountered. While he was never my optometrist, he was my customer and there was never a conversation with him that did not leave me smiling. He was always upbeat and positive. Even when I had to tell him his unit had to be replaced and gave him the price, he still smiled. It seemed like he found the good in everything and if there's anything I want to learn from this world, it's just that-to find the good in everything. I think that's a lesson we can all learn.
"Everyone knows Carter, mom, everyone loves him." That's how my youngest spoke of Carter last night as she was telling me about her classmate. His parents were my own classmates which makes it all even more heart wrenching. Carter was very active in sports, fishing, welding. He was always there for his friends, and ready to help those who needed it. These are qualities many adults don't possess, so I know his parents are beyond proud of the young man they raised him to be.
Two completely different generations, but two massive losses that have left a huge hole in Henry County. From all of us at Shankle's, we are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.
