One of my favorite trades of the construction industry is installing siding and finish work. The 3 step fascia, the siding on the house and the wrapping of the beams of the deck is being done with Douglas fir. The underside of the deck is insulated with a 2" closed cell foam and the soffit is 1" x 8" tongue and grove cedar. We have also installed vents so that the air can circulate. The deck is really taking shape!

A lot of hard work has been happening. The concrete looks great. Once the sealer is applied it will look even better.

One of the most valuable options and amenities of a large custom house in Park City is to have a heated concrete walkway and driveway. Some homes, such as this one with a deck this large, it certainly helps if it is heated. Especially if it is a colored, stamped concrete deck. A lot of very hard work by many.

Now that the framing is complete we are ready to waterproof the deck. In order to have proper drainage for the rain and snow here in Park City the deck was intentionally framed with a 1/4" per foot fall away from the house to the edge of the deck. Then an elaborate system was used to seal the deck. It required a great deal of time and experience in order to install and apply everything correctly.

Earlier this year we began rebuilding a 1,800 sq. ft. deck that rotted out and fell away from the house last year. The new deck has a steel frame, wood structure, heated, colored, stamped concrete with cable railing. This home is in Colony. One of Park City's most prestigious neighborhoods. It has been a fun project. We will be posting progress pictures often so please follow to watch it evolve.
