With the heat wave already here and If you have issues with your air conditioning system here's some helpful tips for you to check on your own.

1. A Dirty air filter is the Most common issue. If you see ice on your unit. Turn it off and remove the filter. If it's pretty dirty that's likely your issue. You will need to melt the ice thats accumulating. On the thermostat Switch the fan to the On position but leave the system off. This will help melt the ice. It will take 4-8 hours to completely melt the ice. After this it's safe to turn the system back on

2. Check your breakers. A power surge can cause a breaker to trip. Turn the breakers off on the indoor snd outdoor units for 30 seconds then turn them back on.

3. If the units working but just not cooling great. Turn the system off and use a garden hose to clean the coils on your outdoor unit. A dirty condenser coils definitely can affect the performance of your air conditioning system

HOMEOWNERS WITH HEAT PUMPS,

It's supposed to be -14 degrees Wednesday with the wind Chill. If you have a heat pump your most likely going to be cold. Switch it to emergency heat and hope for the best. Please don't expect it to maintain 68-70 degrees. Most heat pumps don't produce heat when temps are below 30 degrees. Inverter heat pumps can produce heat down to 15-20 degrees. Electric bills are going to be really crazy high for January. Your electric heat has been working overtime.
