Planned maintenance outages are essential—don’t let unexpected downtime leave your operations dead in the water. Below are some common faults in winding insulation to look for:

- Phase to phase faults: insulation between the coils is damaged or deteriorated.
- Phase to ground faults: insulation on the outside of the coils is damaged, between the coil and stator core.
- Turn to turn shorts: insulation in the same coil is damaged.

That’s a wrap on our second installment of Wind Generator 101!
