Manufacturing Tariff Update 2026: What You Need to Know

When we first published this article in May 2026, the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) was still in effect. Since then, the tariff landscape has shifted significantly, creating both opportunities and challenges for manufacturers, distributors, and industrial suppliers. Today, manufacturers are navigating a transition away from IEEPA-related tariffs and toward a framework increasingly driven by Section 232 and Section 301 trade actions....

InSource in the Wild: A New Appreciation for Smooth Suspension

A 15-Foot Fall Changed My Perspective on Ride Quality

On May 29, I fell about 15 feet from a ladder onto concrete.

I landed face-first.

The result? A broken nose, broken wrist, broken elbow, broken tooth, chipped teeth, a deep gash in my shin requiring multiple layers of stitches... and a broken ladder.

Thankfully, I never lost consciousness.

After first responders arrived, I was transported by ambulance from Ohio to Fort Wayne—about an hour away. Lying on that stretcher, every bump, dip, and pothole felt magnified. With injuries on both sides of my body, it was impossible not to notice the ride.

That experience gave me a new appreciation for something most of us rarely think about: suspension systems.

Before joining InSource, vehicle ride quality wasn't something I paid much attention to. Like most people, I simply expected vehicles to get me where I needed to go.

Now I see it differently.

One of InSource's customers, LiquidSpring, develops intelligent suspension systems for emergency vehicles, RVs, buses, and work trucks. Their technology continuously adjusts to road conditions, helping provide a smoother, safer ride.

When you're healthy, that may sound like a comfort feature.

When you're injured and lying in the back of an ambulance, it feels a lot more important.

At InSource, we're grateful to manufacture wiring harnesses and electronic control assemblies that help support technologies like these. Most people will never see the components we build, but they play a role in connecting the systems that impact real people every day.

My injuries are healing, and I have a great deal to be thankful for:

-Skilled first responders
-Excellent medical care
-Family, friends, and colleagues who supported me
-Another day to keep moving forward

Sometimes it takes an unexpected experience to remind us that the products we build aren't just products.

They're solutions that affect people's comfort, safety, recovery, and quality of life.

For me, that lesson came one bump at a time on an ambulance ride to Fort Wayne.
