It’s been a big morning at the Pella Opera House! There is a brand new blower for the 1928 Barton Theatre Organ created by Robert Otey in the state of Washington. It was delivered and hauled in by Van Haaften Plumbing and Heating, Inc. While these guys have moved a lot of furnaces and air conditioners, a pipe organ blower was a first for them. Eagle Electric will be out to do the electrical hookup, and tomorrow, specialists from JL Weiler, Inc of Chicago, pipe organ curators, conservators and consultants, will arrive to finish the installation and tune the Barton organ. Just in time for Kent Jager to perform at Tulip Time!

❄️Cold weather warning❄️
Here are some tips to avoid cold weather catastrophies:

Severe cold "do's" and "don'ts"

Do
-- Know how to turn off the water in case of emergency.
(If you do not know how to turn the water off, ask someone.) Make sure the valve turns by hand.

Do
-- Leave the water running at your faucets if your pipes are at high risk of freezing. This is particularly important in MANUFACTURED HOMES.

Do
-- Leave cabinets open to expose plumbing to the warmth in the house.

Do
-- Confirm that your furnace filter is clean

Do
-- Make sure that your exhaust and intake piping from your furnace is clear of obstructions

Don't
-- Leave your garage door open.

Don't
-- Allow any area that has water or drain lines to get below freezing (such as crawlspaces, cellars, meter pits, garages, etc.)

Do
-- Be sure to call the experts at Van Haaften Plumbing and Heating, Inc. if you have any plumbing or heating problems.
