At Blue Commercial Properties, great operations are what keep great properties running smoothly. As Director of Operations, Amy Atkinson plays a key role in making sure the properties Blue manages operate efficiently, financially, and in alignment with both lease terms and ownership objectives.

Amy’s work touches every part of the property management process. From coordinating with tenants and vendors to ensuring organizational efficiency across the portfolio, she helps keep day to day operations running seamlessly behind the scenes.

What Amy enjoys most about her role is the people. Whether working with tenants, property owners, vendors, or the Blue team itself, she values the relationships built through collaboration and trust. For Amy, every day brings something new, and the opportunity to learn, solve problems, and grow keeps the work exciting.

One accomplishment she takes particular pride in is the strong tenant relationships she has built during her two years with Blue. She also finds satisfaction in improving systems and organization that increase efficiency, productivity, and profitability across the company’s operations.

Outside of work, Amy enjoys crafting, sustainable gardening for food and pollinators, and spending time with family and friends.

And when it comes to Pensacola, Amy loves the balance the community offers. It has the amenities of a city while still maintaining the feel of a small town, and of course, the beaches are hard to beat.

Today’s ribbon-cutting celebration for the new Palafox was more than the completion of a streetscape project. It was a reminder of what intentional investment in a downtown corridor can do for a community.

The new Palafox brings infrastructure upgrades, improved walkability, enhanced accessibility, updated utilities, and long-term improvements designed to support the continued growth of Downtown Pensacola. But beyond the physical transformation, this project highlighted the resilience and commitment of the local businesses that kept showing up every day throughout construction.

Meet Bob Cordes, Director of Redevelopment Services at Blue Commercial Properties.

As a Licensed Architect and Certified Building Contractor, Bob leads Blue’s redevelopment efforts with a focus on building renovations and new construction. He works closely with Don and Richard on value engineering and brings trusted subcontractors into projects early in the design-build process. That collaborative approach allows the team to uncover efficiencies, solve problems proactively, and deliver meaningful value to clients.

What Bob enjoys most is watching a project come to life. Many of Blue’s redevelopment efforts focus on restoring older, neglected buildings, and Bob finds the process especially rewarding when owners see their properties revitalized and reactivated. That transformation, paired with positive owner feedback, is what keeps the work meaningful for him.

During his time with Blue, Bob has contributed to numerous impactful projects, with two standing out in particular: the renovation of My Salon Suites Nine Mile Road and the refurbishment of the Sanctuary Event Center. Both projects reflect Blue’s commitment to thoughtful redevelopment and bringing new life to existing spaces.

Before joining Blue, Bob spent much of his career in economic development, serving in various state and local roles. He valued working alongside others to attract and deliver projects to the region and finds it especially gratifying to see the next generation of leaders continue to drive quality growth across the Gulf Coast. He likes to think he played a small role in helping lay that groundwork.

Bob believes it is a privilege to live and work in Pensacola, a place that offers a high quality of life, strong amenities, and a small-town feel. He joined Blue five years ago at the invitation of Michael Carro and finds deep satisfaction in managing and restoring client properties as part of a team that cares about both the work and the community.

Meet Jen Carter, Controller of Blue Commercial Properties.

Jen plays a critical role behind the scenes at Blue, overseeing the financial health of our portfolio and ensuring accuracy and accountability across every property. Her work spans tenant rent tracking, property expenses, owner distributions, construction accounting, and banking relationships, along with compliance for security deposits and trust account funds. Simply put, Jen helps make sure the numbers tell the full and correct story.

What Jen enjoys most about her work is serving multiple stakeholders at once. She balances the needs of property owners, tenants, and the Blue team itself, providing clear, reliable financial information that allows everyone to make informed decisions and address challenges proactively.

Jen brings a uniquely broad perspective to her role thanks to a diverse accounting background. Her experience includes building resort hotels, commercial real estate, personal injury law, and wealth management. That range gives her a more complete view of how financial decisions impact operations, people, and long-term outcomes, something she is especially proud of.

Outside of work, Jen is a native Gulf Coast Floridian who loves being outdoors. She enjoys creating gardening habitats that attract pollinating insects and birds and is passionate about encouraging small, everyday actions that support wildlife conservation.

Her favorite part of living and working in Pensacola is the year-round ability to enjoy the outdoors and being surrounded by friendly, like-minded southerners. That sense of place and community aligns perfectly with Blue’s people-first approach.

Jen’s attention to detail, depth of experience, and thoughtful perspective are essential to how Blue serves its clients and manages properties with integrity.
