PRESERVATION GUILD UPDATE — JUNE 1ST 🛠️

1) We got our first look inside 405 E. Blount Street. Nannette’s official assessment? “It has a sunroof.” We’re pretty sure that wasn’t part of the original design, but every preservation project comes with a few surprises. More details on the vision for this future maker space will continue to be shared on our socials.

2) The 6th and Jackson House project continues to make progress as restoration efforts move forward with plumbing, roof, and electrical work underway.

3) The Bride’s Cottage at The Gilded Lady is getting its roof this week, bringing us one step closer to completing the campus vision.

A lot happening behind the scenes, Pensacola! Keep following along.

What an honor! Last week we were informed that our work at The Gilded Lady landed us the 2026 Joyce Turner Award for Historic Preservation from the North Hill Preservation Association. 🗝️

The award recognizes excellence in exterior historic renovation projects within the North Hill Preservation District, a neighborhood listed on the National Register of Historic Places and protected for its architectural and historical significance.

The award is named after Joyce Turner, a founding member and preservation advocate who helped champion North Hill’s historic designation, the award celebrates projects that preserve the character and story of Pensacola’s historic homes.

To have 520 N. Spring Street recognized in this way means more than we can put into words. We’ve poured our heart and soul into this property (and continue to) and into the belief that preserving these homes matters.

Waking up everyday and working on projects we are passionate about is truly a gift.

Thank you to the NHPA for this recognition, and thank you to everyone who continues supporting preservation, restoration, and thoughtful development in Pensacola.

It’s OFFICIAL! We closed on 405 E. Blount Street a few hours ago. 🛠️🥳

The vision? A restored creative space for artists, makers, small businesses, and community to exist under one historic roof.

This project is about more than saving a building. It’s about creating a space with purpose.

One that preserves character while making room for creativity, collaboration, and local talent to grow.

Artists and tenants will also have the opportunity to teach classes and workshops, turning the space into something the community can actively experience.

We’ll be sharing more details about the vision on Friday, stay tuned Pensacola!

One of the first things we look at in a historic home is the original windows. 🪟

In the Victorian and Gilded Age eras, stained glass and prism windows weren’t just decorative details. They reflected the craftsmanship, technology, and social status of the time.

Homes were designed to use natural light intentionally long before electricity and air conditioning became common.

Stained glass softened harsh sunlight and added privacy, while prism glass redirected daylight deeper into dark hallways and interior rooms.

These windows tell the story of how people lived, built, and designed homes over 100 years ago. That’s why preserving original glass is always one of our priorities during restoration.

Preservation Update!

A lot is happening behind the scenes right now, and every phase gets us one step closer to bringing these historic properties fully back to life.

520 N. Spring St. is heading into its final ARB phase as we prepare to add the pool and cabana amenities to complete The Gilded Lady campus for Fall 2026.

Meanwhile, Baylen St. is officially in permitting and ready to move into the next chapter as soon as City approval comes through. Another home people once overlooked… getting a second chance.

We’re also actively looking for skilled carpenters experienced in wood siding, historic repairs, and old house restoration. If you love this kind of work, we’d love to connect.

Preservation takes vision, patience, craftsmanship, and people willing to do the hard thing. Thank you for continuing to follow along with us.
