The adoption of solar panels for homes has been on the rise over the past decade, with more homeowners turning to solar energy as a sustainable and cost-effective solution for their energy needs. Despite the growing popularity of solar panels, there are still many myths and misconceptions that prevent homeowners from making the switch. In this article, we will explore the benefits of buying solar panels for your home and debunk some of the most common myths.

Myth #1: Solar panels are expensive
One of the biggest myths about solar panels is that they are expensive and only for the wealthy. While it is true that the initial cost of solar panels can be significant, the long-term benefits outweigh the upfront investment. The cost of solar panels has also decreased significantly over the years due to advancements in technology and increased competition among manufacturers. In addition, there are several financing options available, including lease agreements and power purchase agreements, that allow homeowners to install solar panels without having to pay the full cost upfront.

In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Energy, homeowners who install solar panels can save thousands of dollars over the lifetime of the system. In some cases, homeowners can even make money by selling excess energy back to the grid.

Myth #2: Solar panels only work in sunny climates
Another common myth about solar panels is that they only work in sunny climates. While it is true that solar panels work best in areas with plenty of sunshine, they can still generate energy on cloudy days or in areas with less sunlight. Solar panels are designed to capture both direct and diffuse sunlight, which means they can still generate energy even when the sun is not shining directly on them. In fact, Germany, a country with a relatively low level of direct sunlight, is a world leader in solar energy production.

Myth #3: Solar panels require a lot of maintenance
Another myth about solar panels is that they require a lot of maintenance. In reality, solar panels are very low-maintenance and require little upkeep. Most solar panels come with a 25-year warranty, and the only maintenance required is occasional cleaning to remove dirt and debris that may accumulate on the panels. Some solar panel systems also come with monitoring software that allows homeowners to track their energy production and identify any issues that may arise.

Myth #4: Solar panels are ugly and will decrease the value of your home
Many homeowners are hesitant to install solar panels because they believe that they are ugly and will decrease the value of their home. However, this is simply not true. In fact, solar panels can actually increase the value of your home. According to a study by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, homes with solar panels sell for an average of 4% more than homes without solar panels.

In addition, solar panels come in a variety of styles and colors, so homeowners can choose a system that complements the design of their home. Many manufacturers also offer sleek and stylish designs that are aesthetically pleasing and can even add to the curb appeal of your home.

Myth #5: Solar panels are not reliable
Some homeowners are hesitant to install solar panels because they believe that they are not reliable and will not generate enough energy to meet their needs. However, this is simply not true. Solar panels are very reliable and have been proven to provide consistent energy production over the lifetime of the system.

In fact, solar panels are often more reliable than traditional energy sources, which are subject to outages and disruptions. Solar panels also come with a 25-year warranty, which means that homeowners can expect consistent energy production for many years to come.

As energy costs continue to rise, more and more homeowners are turning to solar panels as a way to save money on their electricity bills while also reducing their carbon footprint. In this blog post, we will explore the benefits of buying solar panels for residential customers, and highlight the energy savings they could see over a 5 year period.
Significant Energy Savings
One of the primary benefits of solar panels for homeowners is the significant energy savings they can provide. By generating your own electricity, you can reduce or even eliminate your monthly electricity bill, depending on the size of your solar panel system and your energy consumption. According to Clevrsun, the average homeowner can save between $10,000 and $30,000 over a 20-year period by installing solar panels on their home.
Over a 5-year period, the energy savings can be substantial. For example, a family of four living in a 2,000 square foot home in California with an average monthly electricity bill of $150 could save over $4,500 in energy costs over 5 years by installing a 6 kW solar panel system, according to Clevrsun's Solar Calculator.
Tax Incentives:
Another benefit of buying solar panels for residential customers is the availability of tax incentives. The federal government offers a 26% tax credit for homeowners who install solar panels on their homes, which can significantly reduce the upfront cost of the system. Many states also offer additional incentives such as rebates or tax credits, further reducing the cost of the system.
Net Metering:
Net metering is a billing arrangement that allows homeowners with solar panels to earn credits for excess electricity they generate and send back to the grid. These credits can then be used to offset the cost of electricity they consume from the grid when their solar panels are not producing enough energy.
This means that even on days when your solar panels are not generating enough energy to meet your needs, you can still benefit from the energy you generated on days when your system produced more energy than you consumed. Over a 5-year period, this can result in significant energy savings and further reduce your overall electricity costs.
In conclusion, buying solar panels for your home can provide significant energy savings over a 5 year period, as well as reduce your carbon footprint. With tax incentives and net metering, the upfront cost of the system can be significantly reduced, making it an affordable investment for many homeowners. Quick question, can you recall the first time you paid your energy bill? Were you excited or upset? Regardless of how you felt, I bet after the next few bills you accepted that this will be a lifetime commitment as long as you use electricity. Most of us hate getting utility bills because it's the main source of our anxiety and depression.

Electricity is something we all need and every utility company knows this, unfortunately, they are not very fair about this. What's more, the cost of electricity has almost doubled since 2003 (if your energy bill was $50 you will now pay $100 for the same amount of power used). This increase is mostly due to the constantly rising oil and gas prices.

The not-so-funny part of all of this is if you take a closer look at your energy bill, you will see that miscellaneous charges account for the larger part of your bill, NOT for the energy you use! This is why we just can't shake that feeling of being cheated as energy prices fluctuate.

To put it to you straight, you are paying for transmission and distribution among other things. So every month you are paying for the process of sending the power from the power plant to your house and you are also paying to distribute the power to all your neighbors!

Energy without hidden costs?
At this point, you must be wondering if there is a way to generate electricity without being tied to a monopoly. There are many alternatives, but the simplest and most cost-effective way is Solar Energy. Installing a Solar System is the easiest way for anyone to generate their own energy, independent of the grid. So what do we know about solar?

The biggest LIES about Solar

Lie #1: Solar only works when the sun is shining.
Yes, we still need power when it’s raining. Fortunately, solar technology can be leveraged in virtually any condition, including rainy and snowy days, because some sunlight still reaches the earth. Solar panels tend to perform best in cold and sunny climates because heat interferes with the conversion of sunlight into electricity. (Keep in mind that solar panels collect light, not heat.) On top of that, battery storage can be connected to your solar system and provide energy at night. Think of this as your clean-energy backup, as opposed to backup generators. If the power goes out in your neighborhood, your power will stay on.
The bottom line is unless you’re among the few Americans who live more than a mile from a power line, a home with rooftop solar panels is still connected to the electric grid. Click here for free installation and generate power in any weather!

Lie #2: Solar Energy is new technology.
Most of us are quite familiar with solar energy, having heard about it on tv and seen panels on houses and businesses all around us. Solar Energy has been around a lot longer than most of us realize, in fact, it was first discovered back in 1839, by Alexandre Edmond Becquerel when he first discovered the photovoltaic effect. Since then solar technology has been developed to produce enough clean energy to power homes and businesses. Solar technology is also the fastest-developing energy source with applications in virtually all industries. Click here for free installation and start powering your home.

Lie #3: Solar is too expensive.
While the cost of a residential solar system can range from $15,000 to $35,000, you don’t have to pay for it all at the time of installation. There are several solar financing options that allow you to pay over time with no money down, plus local, state, and federal tax incentives and rebates to offset the costs. You will eventually spend that amount and more on your energy bill. Solar panels require little ongoing maintenance which makes them a durable and reliable source of clean energy.
I have something both fun and educational for you!

The Cost of Doing Nothing equation (CODN)
Cost of Doing Nothing = (your current monthly bill x 12 months x 25 years)
CODN = Bill x 12 x 25
So if your current bill is $100 your CODN would be $30,000 for a utility bill just for doing nothing.
Yikes!
Can you just imagine the different ways you could be spending this money instead of on a pesky bill?

The Truth about Solar?
Higher home value: By going solar, you automatically increase your home value by at least 4%! Imagine hearing a huge valuation quote if you were to sell your house or get a home equity loan. Not only will you save money on your energy bill and increase the value of your house, but solar panels give your roof a beautiful appearance.
Healthier Planet: Remember global warming and climate change? The average Solar System can generate over 5 tons of CO2 offset. This is equal to planting 150+ trees! Excess power produced by solar is sent to the grid which in turn reduces the number of fossils used to generate electricity for the nation.
Lifetime Guarantee: With Solar technology rapidly advancing, the average lifespan of a solar panel is at least 40+ years! In addition to this, solar panels come with a standard 25 years warranty. You will be left with a smile after seeing a positive return on your investment.
