Maintenance is essential for prolonging the life of your HVAC system. 😊

Inspect and clean both the indoor and outdoor AC/Heating coils. The indoor coil in your air conditioner acts as a magnet for dust because it is constantly wet during the cooling season. Dirt build-up on the indoor coil is the single most common cause of poor efficiency. The outdoor coil must also be checked periodically for dirt build-up and cleaned if necessary.

Heating & Cooling is the single biggest energy consumer in a home, accounting for about 40 percent of all energy used by homeowners. Taking steps to ensure your unit is running as efficient as possible can offset costs. Keeping your filter clean cuts energy consumed 5 - 15 percent. ☀️❄️💰

Tip For Today :-) Check to see if you're blocking your condensing unit. The part of your air conditioner that draws air into the system obviously needs to be uncovered. That means any chairs or other items you've conveniently stored in your air conditioning closet needs to come out. Also take the time to clean obvious obstructions like leaves/sticks/debris from around the outdoor unit.

Make sure you change your air filter regularly. A clean filter will prevent dust and dirt from building up in the system, which can lead to expensive maintenance and/or early system failure. Check your filter every month, especially during winter and summer months, when use tends to be heavier. Change your filter if it's dirty—or at least every three months.

Installing a programmable thermostat can save you quite a bit of money over the course of the cooling season and make less work for your AC unit. Set the thermostat to keep you cool when you’re home but higher when you’re away. You can also set it higher for night time when the air temperature is naturally cooler. Tip by Becky :-) When rearranging furniture, make sure you don't place a lamp or other item below/near your thermostat! This will alter the reading of the room. A lot of times, people will rearrange and place lamps below the thermostat not thinking about the heat it generates....
