Today we are running 4/4 Hard Maple on our kiln dried production line. After grading, each piece gets a sort number printed on to it. Any boards that exceed wane limitations get diverted to the reman diverter gizmo and head to the ripsaw and then back for a 2nd grading. The other boards head down to the piling line to get packaged for shipment.

After kiln drying the lumber we must remove the kiln sticks that are between each layer.  To do this we use our tilt hoist to lift the lumber packs.  At the top the board layers inch forward.  The kiln sticks drop down to a conveyor and they go back into bunks to get used again.  The boards ride the rails and take a ride up the board unscrambler and head towards the planer for surfacing.

Today we are sawing some Rift & Quartered Red Oak. Every board in our RQ mill must pass through the edger. The Edger has the job of cleaning up exess wane while also respecting the resource and ensuring that no usable wood is wasted.
The narrow edgings will be chipped and used for by products while the edged boards move to the Air Drying process.
