We were honored to welcome Senator Andy Kim to Hanwha Philly Shipyard for a discussion with our CEO, David Kim, and a tour of our facility.

During his visit with David, they discussed the future of U.S. shipbuilding, workforce development, and Hanwha’s ongoing commitment to strengthening America’s maritime industrial base.

Thank you, Senator Kim, for taking the time to meet with our team and for your continued support of American shipbuilding.

It was a pleasure hosting Senators Joe Picozzi and Tina Tartaglione at Hanwha Philly Shipyard to showcase how we are helping drive jobs, innovation, and workforce development in Philadelphia.

I had the opportunity to visit the Navy Yard with Senator Tina Tartaglione and see firsthand how an area once expected to close down years ago has been transformed into a vibrant, thriving epicenter for jobs and innovation.

We had great conversations about workforce development, the importance of CTE programs in our schools, and how building strong talent pipelines helps attract employers and investment to Philadelphia.

The Navy Yard is proof of what’s possible when we invest in people, partnerships, and long-term growth. Thank you to Hanwha Philly Shipyard and PIDC for the tour and for the incredible work you’re doing to help move our city forward.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

We reflect on the courage, selflessness, and dedication of the men and women who gave their lives in defense of our freedoms. Their legacy lives on in the values we uphold and the work we do every day.

Today, we remember. We honor. And we give thanks to those who served and the families who carry their legacy forward.

It was an incredible evening celebrating music, culture, and community, and a meaningful opportunity to help bring people together through cultural exchange and shared experiences. As a company rooted in Korean heritage and committed to the future of American shipbuilding, we were honored to support an event that strengthened connections across our local community.

During the program, Hanwha Philly Shipyard CFO Sukwon Lee delivered opening remarks and participated in the award presentation, recognizing the extraordinary talent showcased throughout the evening.

Thank you to everyone who helped organize, support, and participate in this memorable event. We look forward to continuing to support opportunities that celebrate culture, strengthen community, and bring people together.

It was a pleasure to welcome Pennsylvania First Lady Lori Shapiro to Hanwha Philly Shipyard!

She was joined by Secretary Nancy Walker of the PA Department of Labor & Industry, Secretary Rick Siger of the PA Department of Community and Economic Development, Ben Kirshner, Chief Advancement Officer at the Office of Transformation & Opportunity, and Ryan Hyde, Executive Director of the PA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, and additional members from the Hiram G. Andrews Center and the Commonwealth Technical Institute, to explore how we can connect Pennsylvanians of all abilities with opportunities as our Shipyard grows.

Her visit highlighted the importance of community engagement and workforce development initiatives, reinforcing our commitment to building both ships and opportunities here in Pennsylvania.

Yesterday at the Shipyard, we were proud to celebrate not one, but two major milestones for Matson!

Dock mounting was successfully completed for Malama, bringing the vessel one step closer to completion. At the same time, steel cutting officially began for Makena, marking the start of construction on one of the newest Aloha Class LNG-fueled containerships.

Moments like these reflect the strength of our workforce, the precision of our craft, and the continued progress of our shipbuilding program. We’re honored to support Matson in delivering the next generation of vessels and advancing more efficient, sustainable maritime operations.
