Recently, Hanwha Philly Shipyard (HPSI) had the privilege of attending the Asian American Civic Engagement Town Hall hosted by the Asian American Business Alliance of Greater Philadelphia (AABAGP).

Our CEO, David Kim, was invited to join community leaders, business professionals, and regional stakeholders for a thoughtful discussion on civic engagement and issues impacting the Asian American community. We were also honored to hear remarks from U.S. Senator David McCormick during the event.

We are grateful to AABAGP and Senator McCormick for bringing together voices from across the region and providing an opportunity to strengthen collaboration, foster meaningful dialogue, and support the continued growth of our communities and industries. Hanwha Philly Shipyard remains committed to initiatives that promote inclusion, connection, and long-term growth in Philadelphia.

At Hanwha Philly Shipyard, the ocean is at the core of everything we do.

On World Ocean Day, we recognize the oceans that connect communities, support livelihoods, and power global commerce.

Maritime transport moves more than 80% of goods traded worldwide by volume, making the maritime industry a critical part of everyday life around the globe.

As America’s shipbuilders, we are proud to build vessels that support this vital maritime network and contribute to a stronger future for American shipbuilding.

Today, we celebrate the oceans that connect communities and inspire the work happening across our Shipyard every day.

Welcome aboard, interns!

Hanwha Philly Shipyard (HPSI) recently kicked off its 2026 Summer Internship Program with an orientation, welcoming 25 interns from a variety of schools and disciplines across the region.

During the three-day orientation, interns were introduced to the Shipyard, its operations, and the professional skills needed to succeed throughout the summer. They also participated in “Shipbuilding 101,” gaining a high-level overview of the shipbuilding process and how departments across HPSI work together to support operations.

Following the orientation, interns gathered at South Bowl for a kickoff social, connecting with one another and Shipyard employees as they began their summer journey.
