🎉 Congratulations to our newest GAANN Fellow, Evelyn Carpenter evelyn 🫐🧸!

We are excited to welcome Evelyn, our new PhD student, as a GAANN (Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need) Fellow, beginning October 1.

The U.S. Department of Education’s GAANN program supports outstanding graduate students pursuing PhDs in fields of national need. This fellowship is a wonderful recognition of Evelyn’s academic achievements and potential.

Congratulations, Evelyn! We also thank Prof. Jörn Venderbos and Prof. Steve May for their leadership of the program. We look forward to strengthening our collaboration with Prof. May’s group through this appointment.

We’re excited to share that the A.J. Drexel Nanomaterials Institute will be strongly represented at the 4th International MXene Conference, taking place August 20–22 at the University of Chicago!

Our team will present cutting-edge research across MXene synthesis, characterization, energy and electrocatalysis, water & desalination, health applications, and more - through plenary and invited talks, flash talks, and poster presentations.

A special highlight: Yury Gogotsi, Professor and Director of DNI, will deliver the Concluding Address at the closing plenary session on August 22!

Founded in 1960, WAAS is one of the world’s most selective interdisciplinary academies, bringing together distinguished leaders in science, education, public policy, business, and the arts. Its fellowship includes Nobel laureates, heads of state, and other globally recognized innovators.
