In the early morning of Monday, August 31, 2026, at approximately 5:30am fire lights and bells were well activated at several firehouses in Northeast Philly to respond to a reported dwelling fire on the 6600 block of Horrocks St. Upon arrival of the first in companies, Engine 71 and Ladder 28 from Cottman Ave. and Loretto St., were met with fire at the 2nd floor front and heavy smoke conditions. Firefighters immediately went to work stretching attack firefighting hose lines and began an aggressive search and rescue operation through high heat and smoke conditions. An adult male occupant was found during the search and removed to our skilled paramedics and EMTs who initiated life-saving measures and transported him to the hospital. The last report we have is that he is in critical condition with burns and smoke inhalation. A lady and two young children were also transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Please keep these citizens in your prayers.
