I can’t believe that it is already September and another ASCE year is almost behind us. August was a good month for the Region. We had our Fall Planning meeting outside of Anchorage and welcomed new board members while thanking those that are leaving us. We also worked hard with the Section leadership to make plans for the upcoming year. One of the outcomes of the meeting was revising this newsletter to allow you to jump to the articles that are the most of interest. With the September version you can click on the underlined words and they will take you directly to that article, rather than having to scroll. If you have other suggestions, please feel free to forward them on as we are always looking to improve!

While we may have just welcomed our newest board members, the elections for next year are right around the corner. In this newsletter, you will find more information on our call for candidates. Lastly, as with each of our newsletters, this month we are highlighting another section in our Region. This month it is Oregon and they have a great update highlighting some of their best practices and their successes from the past year.

I hope to see many Region 8 faces at the Annual Meeting in Panama in a few weeks. If you haven’t booked yet, there is still time, and I was amazed that it really isn’t costing anymore to travel to Panama than to a local conference. For those of you who can’t make it, we will provide a brief recap in a future newsletter. In the meantime, enjoy your September!
