A key part in creating a LEAN shop means creating and constantly improving Kanbans for processes. Labels, posted signs, sound alerts, and designated areas for supplies there are many different kinds of Kanbans. 🙌

Mobility. Flexibility. Team work. 👏👏👏 These mobile assembly carts are definitely a not-so-secret weapon of ours. Our process engineers over assembly gear up the carts and then the carts go to machine cells where the process engineers there are able to work on assembly tasks while also tending to their assigned machine(s). Though that may sound like a lot of added work, it isn’t. The assembly tasks are quick and if there is a more complex assembly task to be done it stays at the assembly department and gets done by the process engineers that work solely on assembly tasks. Spreading the assembly work not only gets the work done more efficiently, but it further unifies our team to the goal of improving our processes for our customers benefit. 👊

A happy side effect is a cycle reduction from 7:30 min down to 3:58 min” What started as a desire to fix having to deburr parts post machining also knocked the cycle time down by a little over 3 minutes. 👏👏 Looking for small improvements can lead to additional improvements without additional improvements effort. 👊
