We’re proud to support the next generation of water stewards 💧

Our engineer, Dalton, recently volunteered at the Arizona Project WET Water Festival in Apache Junction, helping lead hands-on activities for local 4th grade students. He taught the Water Cycle station, where students collected beads along their journey as a water molecule—traveling through clouds, soil, and even living organisms.

From interactive learning to a (very fun) water cycle dance, it was a great day of connecting kids to the importance of water and sustainability.

Happy 3-Year Work Anniversary, Kaley! ✨

Over the past three years, Kaley has been a key contributor to our project teams, supporting successful project delivery through the preparation of basis of design reports, assistance with permitting, and support during bid and construction administration.

Her technical expertise includes performing engineering calculations, preparing detailed engineering drawings, developing specifications, assisting with cost estimates, and collaborating closely in consultation with manufacturers and subconsultants.

🌵Final Site Visit: Lost Dutchman State Park Upgrades🌵

Valentine’s Kaley and Jaz were on-site at Lost Dutchman State Park this week for a project walkthrough with the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) and Arizona State Parks.

This project enhances critical infrastructure throughout the park, from improving the park’s water supply and distribution system to upgrading wastewater treatment facilities that serve visitors, campgrounds, and park operations.

The walkthrough included:
💧 Over 3,000 feet of new waterline that provides water to the entire park. The team replaced the existing line and rebuilt the connection to the Arizona Water Company system at the park entrance, improving reliability and long-term performance.
🚐 The expanded RV dump station, which now includes new lanes, a potable water fill, and improved access for park visitors.
⚙️ The rehabilitated sludge holding tank, which was fully restored with new coatings, piping, an airlift pump for decant, and coarse bubble diffusers for aeration to extend its life and enhance operations.

It’s always rewarding to see planning and design work come to life, especially in such a historic Arizona location.

Great work by everyone involved in delivering sustainable improvements that will support Lost Dutchman State Park and its visitors for years to come!

🚧 Groundbreaking: American Gulch Water Reclamation Facility Improvements 🚧

This milestone represents years of planning and collaboration to build a sustainable future for Green Valley Water’s 2.8 MGD American Gulch Water Reclamation Facility (WRF).

Working closely with Green Valley Water (GVW), Valentine developed a comprehensive Master Plan for the facility, evaluating capacity, treatability, operability, and condition to create a 25-year roadmap addressing both short- and long-term needs.

Together with GVW and our CMAR partner ASR, we’re proud to have broken ground on the first phase of this effort.

• This phase includes replacing the existing headworks to enhance redundancy, operability, and pretreatment.
• The new headworks will feature coarse screens, fine screens, and new grit removal technology, the first of its kind installed in Arizona and the Southwest.
• An equalization basin equipped with pulsed aeration will improve mixing, odor control, and flow management.
• Upgrades to the bioreactors will include replacing aged ceramic diffusers and undersized aeration piping with fine-bubble tube diffusers, new air headers, and Iris valves for more efficient airflow control.
• Additional improvements include new IMLR pumps and bioreactor transfer and drain pumping enhancements.

This $16 million construction project marks the first step toward building resiliency, improving operability, and enhancing treatment performance for the community.

It was a great day celebrating this groundbreaking with GVW’s board, management, and operations team, along with our construction partners from ASR. A preconstruction meeting, a shared lunch, and some project-inspired cookies made the celebration even sweeter. 🍪

🚧 Team Spotlight: Larkfield Booster Pump Station & Storage Tank Project 🚧

Caught Ryan O’Malia in action this week at the Larkfield, CA Booster Pump Station and 500,000-gallon glass-fused-to-steel storage tank project! 💧

Ryan has been serving as Project Engineer, observing construction progress and coordinating with the Contractor. He was joined on-site by Dermot Broderick and Chris Paquette from our Carmel, CA office.

This project includes a 1,800 gpm booster pump station and a much-needed storage tank that will provide reliable water infrastructure for California American Water’s Larkfield service area.

A huge thank-you to California American Water and TNT Construction for the opportunity to be part of this important project!
