Today, after I got home from a long month of work on our latest project, I was looking through photos and posting on social media when I came across this one I took earlier. Then, God reminded me that these aren't just houses that we work on; this is somebody's home. This is where someone will lay their head down at night to sleep or perhaps raise a family. They will hold holidays and birthday parties here, or maybe other family gatherings. It's little things like this picture that remind me to be humble, to slow down, and to pay attention. It reminds me that the little details matter. It's not just drywall, paint, plumbing, or electrical, but these are all things that, when put together, make a home—a home where someone will live; not just live, but they will laugh here, they will cry here, and they will have some of their most cherished moments in life in this home, maybe even some of the worst moments in their life. The least I could do is remind myself, when I'm putting all these materials together, that I'm creating a healthier, happier, safer environment for somebody to thrive in. God is good!
