The test tries to realistically determine how energy efficient AC units are by dividing cooling BTU/h output by input wattage over the 3 months of summer. It is recommended in Southeast states like Florida to have a SEER2 rating of 15 or higher. The higher the efficiency rating the better the energy savings and the longer your system will last.
