Job Safety Analysis (JSA) - Plan the Job Before the Job Plans You.
A JSA Isn't a Step Before the Job. It's Part of the Job.
Most incidents don't happen because someone didn't know the task — they happen because hazards weren’t identified or controlled before work began.
What is it? A Job Safety Analysis breaks a task into steps, flags the hazards in each step, and establishes controls before anyone picks up a tool.
Why does it matter? A JSA helps prevent injuries, equipment damage, environmental incidents, and costly delays before work starts. Every rework, incident, and stop-work moment costs more time than the few minutes it takes to plan ahead. Pre-planning isn't overhead, it's part of the job.
How do you do it? Every task, every time: Identify the steps, call out the hazards, confirm the controls, then go.
Plan the work. Work the plan. Go home the way you came.
