±.001". That's the combined deflection and machining error the ULTRIX 2,000-ton hydraulic press holds under full load, about one-third the variation typically found in precision presses. That stiffness means parts come out at consistent dimension with little post-press finishing and very low scrap. On this date 38 years ago, the Piqua Daily Call reported on a Piqua handshake with international reach.

Earlier that week, French Oil Mill Machinery Company President Daniel P. French greeted His Royal Highness Alaiyeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II, the Ooni of Ife, during a visit to Piqua.

According to the newspaper, the Ooni and a Nigerian delegation were in Ohio on a business trip to purchase Ohio products. The visit was part of an effort to strengthen ties between Ohio and Nigeria.

The photograph is a wonderful reminder that Piqua has long had connections reaching far beyond Ohio. Thirty-eight years later, French Oil remains proud to call Piqua home while serving customers around the world.
